Pretty easy to shop elsewhere and not continue to give Amazon your business. You are the one who felt the need to comment
Cable companies would be fine if they didn’t lock you into contracts and raise rates after the first year. Just be up front
Your original post I responded to wasn't true when you said, "history has told us that it'll get negotiated before an actual service disruption tomorrow night." In recent history they've failed to avoid disruptions with RSNs and Roku, and succeeded with NBCUniversal. So failing to avoid disruptions a majority of the time, and now even worse having failed again with Disney.
We're going to keep running into this issue until you give us an approved list of companies we can do business with
Given the pinch on small businesses, I made an effort to buy more stuff locally. Plus target and Walmart mart will also ship fast without a subscription. Just a choice I’ve made. I obviously understand the convenience of prime. It does keep me from buying a bunch of needless shit
I just need to decide if I should get Hulu, Sling, or Fubo to watch the NFL and bowl season. Looks like Sling is $20 for the first month and then the aforementioned free trials for the others. Spent way too much time researching YTTV before making the move and don’t feel like going through that again. I’m about to put the names in a hat and just draw one.
Didn’t say one was more wholesome than the other. But if Walmart ships 2-day for free, why should I feel compelled to hang onto prime?
You literally called Amazon a shitty company a few posts back. Which they certainly are but so are Target, Walmart, and every other large business.
Out of ideas so you're just trying the circular argument now? That's already been answered... Also, classy move by taking one statement out of context. Here's the full thing. Now please, again, get off my nuts. Ty.
So Sling doesn't really have locals (they have FOX and/or NBC but only in like a dozen markets), however I'm currently watching the ABC game BYU vs UAB on ESPN3 in the Sling app.
Genuinely, what context does you using a free trial add to whether or not YTTV historically fails to negotiate deals without going into a takedown? And I know you know this, but it's a transparent moving of the goal posts to try to shift your claim from "YTTV historically avoids takedowns" to "YTTV has a 'good' reason when it goes into takedown or is able to mitigate the effects of a takedown." The first one is the one I had a disagreement with; I'm not debating the second.
I signed up for the free Hulu trial. It’s alright, can’t really figure out how to get to the “guide” and see all the stations so I can find certain stuff.
I’ll reckon with my choice when that day comes. But I’ll probably just borrow a log in since everyone else on the planet has Amazon prime
I had Hulu before yttv. Disappointed to hear they haven’t fixed the UI for the live stuff. That and the dvr are enough for me to not go back.
Yeah, I’ll keep this until the trial runs out and try Fubo if YTTV hasn’t settled by then. This interface is pretty bad and I’m trying to also switch my moms over too since she can’t go without ABC and stuff, she won’t ever learn this interface. YTTV was super simple for her
It's not too bad in my limited use so far. Their guide and overall ease of use has improved greatly from the last time I tried it a couple years ago. It's still more expensive for less and no unlimited DVR compared to YTTV but it's still much better than any consideration of having to go back to cable or satellite bullshit.
very possible. I mean if I’m going that route I’d probably just hack my Firestick or whatever and go that way but I’d like to find something that’s reputable. Hulu doesn’t seem like it for me. Maybe Fubo will be better.
On an unrelated note, I switched to paramount plus cheap tier because t-mobile made it free as part of my phone plan. The ads crash shows about every other episode. Anyone else have this trouble?
If the local channels are super important just get an antenna worst case scenario. I’ve been going with Reddit and an antenna for the past decade it seems.
The app just sucks. Trying to watch UCL matches sometimes it crashes, you get an entirely different match, or the news.
I did too, it’s not bad. Wish I could do multi view on fire stick, but I like the fan view thing. Hulu live tv is trash, had it before and won’t go back
I’m in the exact same boat with you. Absolutely zero chance my parents can navigate Hulu without calling me each time for help.
If I am google, I just literally delete Disney and any of its companies from the search results for anything and just basically make it where they don’t exist on the internet for a bit.
The more I read into this, the more I am team alphabet. Stole this from the reddits. “The companies are fighting over distribution fees for the Disney channels. A sticking point is YouTube TV’s request for a clause that would guarantee it pays the same rate as distributors of a similar size, according to people familiar with the matter.” If YTTV doesn’t get that clause Disney could charge Hulu or another similar-sized streaming competitor less for the same content. Disney owns Hulu so they feel they are in a win win. Subscribers bail on YTTV to Hulu and Disney+ pumping those numbers up and in a week or so, they agree to the clause which requires Hulu to pay a similar rate as YTTV. Fucking Disney bitches.
if Disney listened to the people and made the Hulu TV interface the tits they'd achieve the world domination they seek
when we had it, it would restart every sporting event from the beginning after like 5-10 min so start a game, at about the 12 min mark of the first quarter it would stop and restart from the beginning and you would have to fast forward to live every single game of any kind every time
