Urban has to be on the spectrum, right? He’s either that or a sociopath, there’s really no in-between.
he got intoxicated by the fame but you see how he treated the media at UF and he had a disposition ripe for being corrupted, and the people he surrounded himself with (his wife namely) have been enablers (maybe even encouragers) which is rat poison for a guy like him.
That's a no for me on "intoxicated by fame" or "corrupted" by anything. He was enabled by the culture of college media and the way we view/judge sports in general. Urban is an asshole. He's always been an asshole. But when you win three national titles and beat your rival every year, no one is allowed to call you an asshole because you win. That's how we view sports in general, and it's how college athletics (especially CFB and CBB coaches) has been covered pretty much forever.
It’s satisfying knowing my intuition was right in 2007 that he was a fake, scumbag. Great coach but awful person.
Lol, Trey Wingo found a video I posted 11 years ago on YouTube and then some blogger on Bar Stool Ran with it. Bad take btw, because he was defending his player while supposedly bullying, but still funny. He also apologized to Fowler the next day. https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog...ing-an-absolute-dick-to-jeremy-fowler-is-wild
Everyone who's coached bigtime college football is an asshole who lies for a living. Some are better at being assholes and lying for a living, those are the ones who win big. There are no "good guys" in bigtime college sports despite how much some people believe.
Genuinly hilarious to see Wingo act like he's some super serious journalist who's held powerful people in sports accountable for any portion of his career.
idk how you define "big numbers" but I think it's only 1k subscribers now if you're talking about making a lot of money from it, then ya, you have to put up big numbers
To the people thinking Urban will just return to CFB and pick up right where he left off: Do you think UM will move on having learned a great many painful yet powerful lessons, emerging as a better man and coach than he's ever been, or something like that? Have you ever seen what happens to an extreme narcissist after sustaining a significant injury to their ego?
Letting a 22 yr old with less than a year in the league have a say in who they hire as a HC is dumb imo.
Having a say is ok. Letting him pick would be dumb. He is still their best shot at having a winning franchise, so getting his input only makes sense. I just really wanna see Dabo in the NFL. That may top Urban in entertainment value.
I get with a 12 year vet that's seen a ton in the league and has a good idea of what he meshes well with. Lawrence barely knows the playback much less what's needed to be a good HC in the NFL.
I wouldn't go overboard with Lawrence "having a say". when he goes to Khan and says he wants input, what good would it be for Khan to tell him no? make him feel part of the process, but that doesn't mean he holds any actual power.
If anyone thought Urban’s schtick wouldn’t mix well with 30 year old millionaires, just wait til Dabo pops in
