It seems very likely that Lynn will be gone at the end of the season and Johnson likely takes his spot as OC.
We went ice skating at Campus Martius today. The Lions are currently 2-0 with me in the city proper over the last decade.
Winning is bad for the tank, but who cares this year and Campbell badly needed this stretch after that disaster stretch from Philly-Thanksgiving. Hope they can get another one or two, but it seems like at least that Minnesota win relaxed them a bit where they aren't chasing it every week.
are we now thinking any of these defensive players are legit pieces for the future? announcers were gushing about Harris ... but he's already in his 5th year
Harris is quality a depth/role player, I think. The young DTs are legit pieces. Maybe building some CB/slot depth, too.
The biggest question with Kayvon is his ability to stay healthy. Extremely intelligent, athletic as fuck, and gets double teamed almost every play. Watch the UCLA game. They dropped him back into coverage a lot and he still had 2 sacks, 9 tackles and was all over the place. You are going to get some questions, similar to Miles Garrett coming out. But if he stays healthy he is too fucking athletic to not make plays, especially with NFL coaching. Through mid November he was second in the nation in pressures, and that’s missing some games. Things to absolutely clean up, but the upside is a 10-16 sack guy every single year he plays 14+ games.
Missed 3.5 games due to a lineman rolling up onto his ankle, .5 due to a BS targeting. No real injury history otherwise.
I can probably be quoted on here calling for Campbell job after this season, but honestly I'm impressed the way this team has competed missing so much talent lately.
Ditto. This is more fun than the Patricia days of rooting for losses. It helps that guys like St. Brown, McNeil and Barnes are making plays today.
Texas look like they are going to win, so barring something crazy the last two weeks, the worst we can do is pick 3rd.
Anyone remember Jayron Kearse that played for the Lions last year? Watched some of the Cowboys game last night and looked legit. Wouldnt mind him still playing for the Lions
He was decent for us last year, but had a 3-game suspension from the league to start the year, and then got cut by the interim regime for violating team rules in December. Assuming that wasn't the first time that happened, since he got cut for it.
I assume this locks in Vaitai for next season. He’s been solid this year, so no big deal. Plus it locks in our OL for next season.
Burke had a pretty cool interview with him and Sewell for The Athletic about their relationship and Vaitai being a major help this season. Would think that's a pretty big deal for them considering Sewell's long term importance, as well.
Yep that was great. I’m all about whatever helps Sewell continue to progress and it seems like Vaitai getting another year wouldn’t hurt.
