A few of us poured it and enjoyed it. Lots of mint on it. Decent pour, not sure it’s worth the price though.
This could not be more appropriate! Went back after last run today to a different dude working & 2 bottles remaining, of which he would sell me neither. Said they were both reserved & dude shouldn’t have offered me any the other night. My apologies, gents! Next time I guess I will buy them up front.
More likely to happen. My bad overall for not understanding what I was offered when it was offered. You know I only chase beer.
Picked up a couple of bottles of Penelope toasted barrel. Going to give as gifts most likely but will have to request an open after I gift it
I finally found Buffalo Trace in NC And found a new store in the next county over that just sells way more bourbons overall
Durham I also got some Four roses sb select, and some kind of single barrel bulleit, and 2 bottles of OF, something called statesman? And a moderna jab, and some fried chicken
I’ve found some decent stuff at the store on 55 in Durham before. Small store but shelves are usually packed.
Statesman is the one they made for The second Kingsman movie. Those are the US equivalent of the Kingsman.
yeah it was an impulse purchase. after looking it up, it seems like OF has a lot of slight variations of basically the same thing
Have pretty good luck any time I venture to Durham and stop. The one off TW Alexander is where I found some McKenna 10Y and ECBP the other week.
this one i where i found BT was store #8 on N Roxboro i may have to start driving to Durham. i normally shop at the 2 stores in hillsborough and they both suck very badly
that's the new one right? Harris teeter shopping center? I've had some luck in Chatham too if you don't mind the drive. A lot of the Raleigh area bourbon groups send their barrel picks there (and Durham Co.) as they are supposedly easier to work with.
yeah yeah that is about 30 min from me, but i might check it out if i'm ever running errands in chapel hill person county was not bad, they have a decent store north of Durham. I am going to check out Alamance County one of these days
I don't care...I just truly love the stuff and it's a Christmas miracle I was in the right place at the right time to get both.
There was one bottle of Eagle Rare still. There maybe could have been more but the ER is the only one I know of that I did see an another bottle of. I walked into the store and knew they were a pretty high volume place...not huge but they're always busy. Anyway I'm looking at the bourbon section and see the typical, decent selection. Then I turn the corner just to make sure there's not more and I see the Eagle Rare behind some like margarita mix or something and grab it. The owner was a couple feet away so I said, looks like someone wanted to hide this and maybe buy it later? He said, I hid it. I always hide the really in demand, good stuff so people don't just walk in and only look at bourbon and leave. I said, got anything else from Buffalo Trace hiding around here. He knew what I meant and said you should look around more. So I did and 5 mins later finally found the Blanton's behind some other rum or something. In my looking I spotted just the one other hidden Eagle Rare but stopped once I found the Blanton's.
A couple mid level Xmas treats. UU has really grown on me this year. It’s my favorite readily available bourbon (aside from the $70 price tag).
UU isn’t readily available in a lot of places in the south. Keep hearing great things. Have never had it.
That’s awesome and I bet you can find some good stuff if you stop in often enough. Can’t imagine everyone knows that. Little bourbon Easter egg hunt.
Got a couple bottles of 1792 12 year today. Will keep one and use the other as a bargaining chip on my trading group
Next time I go to either of the liquor stores I frequent I'm just going to take a pic of the bourbon section and post it itt so some of you can tell me what to try or get. I have some knowledge but I only know about 50% of the stuff that gets mentioned itt. Plus you'll be able to tell me what's unusual or not. For example, higher up on this page there's a post alluding to having trouble ever finding Buffalo Trace? That stuff is all over here. Just saw probably 10 bottles of it at Hy-Vee earlier today.
Buffalo Trace isn't special, and I'm always annoyed it's hard to find. However, for the price, it's a really solid bourbon, which apparently is enough to make it hard to find.
I think part of it is that all Buffalo Trace products have garnered this allure due to the higher end stuff which resulted in any Buffalo Trace getting snapped up. Also the stores down here in many of the states in the south just aren’t getting much of regular Buffalo Trace.
heading to Illinois for Christmas and hoping to find the Smoke Wagon. They haven’t made it to Michigan yet.
If you want some I can get it for you at good prices. I have supplied others in this thread in the past.
