Going to be in town next week. Can’t freaking wait to get Ted’s then bring a bunch home to freeze. Legitimately the best I’ve ever had.
It was great being in Jacksonville this week with some cooler temps, which really made me appreciate Chowder Ted’s even more. I also drank a lot of Mocama beer, which I was super impressed with. Easily the best I’ve had in the area.
Ok so I’ve got a crew coming into town next month for the Bama UF game. We’re taking a shuttle down to Gainesville that leaves from south of town at Avenues Mall. Is there an area within like ~20min of there with good nightlife? We’re all in our 30s so less clubs, more bars. Any area we should definitely stay in?
Haha perfect. I tried to find out discussion about it in the Champs thread and gave up after about a 60 second exhaustive search
How many people? Airbnb in the Riverside & 5-Points Area is the way to go. Also Hyatt across the river in San Marco area (probably cheaper options too). $5 uber to the bar scene, from there
How many guys? Like good beer? We can go downstairs at Kickbacks for some good bottles. I won't be out super late that night bc we're going to the game too but could meet you guys for some drinks early evening.
It never fails to amaze me when I picked my kid up from school and drive past there at 3:15 on a Tuesday and the parking lot is overflowing.
So was still in flux last month, but now officially moving to Jacksonville this month. Still need to find a place to live. What should I know about your fair city?
Where's your office? Renting/buying... Do you need a Realtor? Any Kids? Will you be watching Arsenal matches with the Jax Gooners?
Riverside seems like the easy choice imo. The beach area is an option but a longer drive to downtown.
If you are having difficulty finding something in Riverside/Avondale. Other areas you might want to consider are San Marco, Murray Hill, Ortega & possibly even Springfield. All with similar vibes & in close proximity, apart from Springfield... which in just north of Downtown, Avondale (where I live), San Marco & Ortega are the more upscale areas.
I don't think I'd want to live there, but there are a few cool high-rise apartments Downtown & in the Brooklyn area as well. These are downtown, with river views & pretty sure Zack Zedalis lived there decades ago, in his 20s: https://www.11eastapartments.com
Finally making it to Norikase, for an omakase tasting tomorrow night. I've heard nothing but rave reviews & have crazy high expectations. https://www.norikase.com
ive been once but only had the hand rolls and not the tasting. thought it was real good so I bet the omakase tasting will be even better
Which I realized is where my job is. Feeling like living right next to the job wasn’t the best decision.
Restaurants in Jax I love: Orsay Cowfords Black Sheep Estrella Cocina - food was just okay, but im a sucker for rooftop bar/restaurants
