Text to some friends before drive “If Baker can’t get em into field goal range jettison him into the sun” This was a layup for him to “win” a game on his shoulders. After those first few runs he had 2nd and 6 from the 43. 22 yards to get into chance fg range. FUCK
If I had to guess I would stay that you made a post back then and that it was definitely not based on logic but pure hatred for him doing what he did, so the answer is yes.
Garbage year, but Mayfield isn't it so if one missed playoff season means we saved signing him to some 5 yr / $200m deal and/or actually got a top 12 QB, I'll take it.
Not that shocking I guess, but Mary Kay is reporting Baker will be back next year because of the lack of options in FA and in the draft. She also says Landry will be asked to restructure and if not he’ll be released.
If they bring Baker back they need a legitimate on the roster backup option. There needs to be competition. It’s not Keenum or we would have seen him replace Baker mid season, but a legitimate option that can start. Landry 100% needs to restructure as that much money can’t be tied up in a 3rd WR
Get Baker out of there. And Stefanski is a POS for running him out there week after week if he really isn’t healthy enough to throw.
Stefanski has struggled this year but he's earned enough cache with me that I want to see him with even an average NFL qb
My major gripe with Kevin is his refusal to bench Baker. Baker is either hurt and can’t play, or Baker sucks and can’t play. Either way, he’s refused to play the backup making 7 million when it’s blatantly obvious to anybody with eyes that Baker is a hindrance to this team.
Why haven't we been sitting him? You can't tell me he gave us a better chance tonight to win than even Case Keenum
The galaxy brain Twitter argument I saw last night (which I don't agree with) is that he's trying to make it abundantly clear to the front office that Baker ain't the guy. It also makes Kevin look inept which is why it makes no sense, but seems likely that Berry will go after his own QB in this draft or the next.
This was like Kitchens against the Bengals. Pretty sure they were last in the league against the rush and he ran it 6 times in the first half. When asked why he said something like "well they were expecting us to run it so we tried to not"
A few people have suggested they’re tanking because of this I don’t buy it considering they’ve been trash since October.
Is this where the org is now? Baker done. Would not shock me if he asked out and would be shocked if the team didn’t make some kind of move at this position. Stefanski on the Matt Nagy track. Was he hamstrung by Baker? Why didn’t he go to Keenum (his guy)? I think he is an OC miscast as a HC right now …. Joe Woods is … safe? D was ok statistically. But I would recommend making a move here, team was way too undisciplined on that side of the ball IMO. needs: Major upgrade at WR QB DT - weak in the middle LB - solid group, need more bodies and athletes New DE opposite Myles - no chance Clowney is back IMO overall, heard a lot of best roster in the NFL preseason, but that was incorrect in hindsight.
Schedule and QB play are highly reflective of results in the NFL. Browns got hammered with a hard schedule (Cuz 2020 was good) and shit QB play (Cuz Baker regressed/injured). Not a surprise here that the record is what it is The reverse of this is the Bengals who got rewarded with a shit schedule (Cuz they were awful in 2020) and improved QB play (Burrow returned)- shouldn't be a surprise to see them where they are
-Give Stefanski one more year calling the plays to prove that this year was the outlier, but make it clear his job is dependent on improvement. -I’d move on from Woods personally, but given how they finished I’m sure he’s safe. -Move on from Baker, I think this week made it obvious that there has to be a change. A legitimate QB needs to be brought in, not a guy that just gets you through the year. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options out there so it’s going to take some work. -Move on from Conklin, Hooper, Clowney, Walker and Harrison -Restructure Jarvis (if he’ll do it) or move on. -Extend Ward and Njoku -Focus on RT, WR, DT and LB in FA and the draft
Fell into watching the game on mute with Jim on the radio as I largely cannot stand national announcers. He is so good and he fucking hates Baker it’s funny. for example, Baker gets a pass tipped at the line Jim says Baker with a wounded duck nowhere near the intended receiver.
Spoiler That play ended in a sack. Just a microcosm of Baker's play...can't see the field and doesn't throw to wide open WR's. As much as I hate to say it, he isn't the guy. Hell, if we had David Carr, we would be 12-4 at worst, AFC North champs and on our way to the playoffs.
