2 days down… The smart money is on dry January ending for jbr sooner rather than later. I just have to gauge the wife’s judgement before making the call.
Wife decided we would both go dry for January. I am up for it but not really excited about doing so but am ok with it. Flash to January 1st, we have a couple of friends stop by and my wife has a drink. I mentioned dry January and she said oops, will try again tomorrow! Told her that means a "mostly dry January". I am now an asshole for calling her out. Staying dry myself anyway,
I never drink during the week so this week has been easy. But the thought of going the whole weekend without any delicious beer or bourbons sounds simply awful. It would be easier if the weather was nice and I could go fishing etc. Stay strong my friends.
Last dry January my wife repeatedly commented on how big of an asshole I was and I should just have some drinks. Really makes things easier when your s.o. is actively sabotaging your efforts.
If you don't have a drink at night, what is your "treat" for yourself? Do you guys eat a bowl of ice cream?
Don’t want to speak too soon, but this first week has been significantly easier for me than the 1st week last year. I only made it 3 weeks last time but think I will make it all the way this time. Alabama playing in all these NC games doesn’t help though.
Day 3 down. Hardest day yet because my body has mostly recovered and I’ve gotten good sleep for a few nights. Making all these good decisions is no fun. Life is just more exciting on the precipice.
This is me, I always kinda knew but it’s striking to see in practice how much my weekends revolve around alcohol
this is me as well, Monday-Thursday it's a breeze, but once Friday afternoon rolls around that's the real test, I've found that if I get past the first weekend it's relatively easy maintaining
Going again this year. We started a few days ago because we were in Orlando at the parks with the kids through the 3rd. Over the last few months we started taking edibles at night instead of alcohol. Going to go dry on alcohol for as long as I can. Last year I made it like 3 weeks but with gummies I should be able to shelve alcohol for longer. I had never tried weed before last year, very late to the party, but the benefits compared to alcohol are incredible.
I've stated this in other threads but delta 8 gummies have made largely shelving alcohol extremely easy these last few months for me
Day 6 check in. Slightly depressed mood has improved. Still having really intense dreams but sleeping better. 2 days in the gym this week.
Not every night but My ice cream in take in the last 550 or so days since I stopped drinking is more than the 5-10 previous years combined.
Saturday is my trigger. Usually I’m fine any other day but I’m used to grilling and watching some sport (boxing football) on Saturday so I feel like need a few drinks. I also know I generally don’t have anything to do on Sunday so it works out.
Yeah, people are always like "damn TC, why aren't you a sweets guy???" I'm like bitch, I get all the sugar I need out of malted beverages. When you drink beer you don't want some joker at work handing you cupcakes
my difficult spot is the period between getting off work and eating dinner. If I can make it past dinner, I'm good. The gym helps occupy a large chunk of that time.
Almost envious of you guys that say you can just drink on the weekends. Almost. 7 days a week. Thursday-Sunday were the heaviest days. Sunday may have always been my favorite day to drink. Start first thing in the morning after doing it all day Saturday. Then Monday would be groggy and I'd say Im taking a break. Then magically at 5 pm I felt 100x better. It's like my body knew it was time. My car would navigate to the bar or liquor store or both with the quickness. Then Tuesday was 2-4-1. So can't miss those deals. Wednesday ehhh. What do you know it's Thursday again.
This thread is a little bit of an awkward mix of people who have a problem, people who don't have a problem and everything in between
Fridays were always my big nights. Thursdays might catch a slight buzz. Was usually good Sunday through Wednesday. Friday was always 10+ units so tomorrow will be a test.
Im tempting fate tonight. Opened a bottle of Chardonnay to cook with. Made it through though. Wife doesn’t drink Chardonnay so I’ve already poured it down the drain. Victory.
my wife asked me three times to open a bottle of wine to go with our steak salad- I got angry the third time and she finally stopped
One day at a time. I was going up to 3 meetings a day this time last year. No shame in hitting some rooms.
At the very least you meet a few cool people and get shitty coffee. Unless I make it. Then it’s extra shitty
