We’re getting a 100-year old water oak removed tomorrow and it really bums me out. This tree is easily over 48” dbh and is a fantastic urban wildlife habitat. It unfortunately has a fungal disease and has dropped 3-4 limbs over the past few years and isn’t in a spot to allow for safe standing given its position between my house and my neighbor’s house. Kinda been dreading tomorrow tbh.
Had a 200 year old red oak cut down earlier this year for same reason. Had root rot and visible termite damage to trunk. Sad to see it go and also sad about what it’s going to do to my AC costs this summer.

True. I live in place that’s walking distance to a ton of places so I never use them. I was tempted last week when it was non stop raining here and nothing looked appetizing to put something together with what I had.

173 this morning after gaining a solid 5 pounds over Christmas and New Years. Ideal weight is around 165, but I’d love to get back down to 155 which is where I was when I started dating my wife some 7 years ago. I think my lowest was 147ish when I was running 5x a week and consuming far less alcohol. I also wasn’t smoking then, so the munchies didn’t sneak up on me either.
Am 5’10”. I was down to 182 about 3-4 years ago and was in the best shape of my life. I was cycling ~200 miles a week for the entire year at an extreme pace. People were actually telling me to eat more as I looked “unhealthy.” At that weight I was very easily “overweight” and borderline “obese” according to BMI charts. I carry weight like a mother-trucker, mostly due to my absolute tree trunks of legs. So to get down to that 130-140 range, I would have to get in the best shape of my life again and then cut a leg off at the hip.
From what I saw from a lot of local places during the start of Covid the apps pay out the restaurant at about 70% so if the restaurant is running on margins of 10% they’re losing money on app orders.
My favorite skinny guy thing is when fat people comment on how skinny I am like that’s ok. “Wow you need a cheeseburger. Do you ever eat?” like, what if I walked up to a fat person and was like “holy shit have you ever heard of a salad??”
I’m good with it but not like how it basically rained all day like it did. When I’m working out home I like to get out of the house.
I wish man. Closest I ever came was when I was at my fat friends house and his fat mom said something like “gosh you are so small. Charlie’s thigh is as big around as your waist” yea lady that’s because your kid is fat as shit.
I have enormous thighs. Even in the best shape of my adult life I was "overweight" bordering on "obese." BMI is dumb.
About an hour ago I was driving down the tollway. All of a sudden all of the vehicles right in front of me put on their breaks. A pickup had its hazards on and was slowly making its way to the shoulder. And then a guys head pops out the driver side window as it is still pulling off. As I am driving by slowly, the guy is steering with his left hand, trying to push the steering wheel airbag out of the way with his right hand, and his head out the window. Not a scratch on the truck. How bad would that suck and how unlucky does one have to be to have the airbag deploy without getting in a wreck and going 70 down the tollway.
I got down to 180ish a couple years back but that was doing a starvation type diet. ate the same shit almost every day. 1. 3 boiled eggs half grapefruit for breakfast 2. Protein shake for lunch 3. Dinner chicken breast and broccoli for dinner. This was with working out 6 days a week. Drank nothing but water. I was miserable. I can’t imagine what I’d have to do to get down below that.
Ive fought off being fat as an adult with the one meal a day diet (dinner), once I start eating /snacking the lion is loose and i cant stop. Now I just drink coffee, tea and wait for sunset. Finally goin in the right direction on the scale
It’s amazing how many dudes have body issues and we are never allowed to admit it and talk about it. It sucks. I hate that I know I should be okay with where I am but way too many issues from childhood.
COVID has completely killed my fitness level. In the before days I went to the gym or played basketball at least 3-4 days a week. My gym was being shits at the very beginning of COVId so I cancelled. Havent really consistently worked out since this all hit. Couldnt get into a running groove. Im about 15lbs heavier than Id like to be. Would like to get back down to 225ish, but not sweating it too much. More worried losing my handles next summer on the courts
I haven’t been under 200 since high school. Weighed in at 200 my senior year for football. 230 would be ideal, but I haven’t seen that since the early 2000’s.
Yea, I was 270 as a freshman in college I might have been 133 before middle school :lol I got down to 240 ish in college working out and doing the 6 meal a day diet thing I've got a picture of me from Thanksgiving that year and look at it in disbelief that I was ever that skinny
this is the other end I don’t think I could ever get. My biggest was about 215-220. Eating a lot and lifting a lot minimal cardio. I was playing football but I felt way too heavy my knees, ankles and hips hurt when I ran more than 2-3 miles. 190 is perfect for me. I just don’t know if I can get there again. 200 currently and still wearing same pant size for as long as I can remember.
I’m still getting in a bunch of cardio but it’s all rower, bike, elliptical. Running would tank my squat and deadlift.
It really is but it’s so fucking boring. Or maybe I’ve just done it for too long? edit: obvious but my rower is in my basement not a river.
