And it's going to be REBRANDED AND REPLACED w/ blockchain technology And having a better user experience than an outdated message board.
Yes, everyone hates it bc Nike makes 10k pairs and 5m people go for them so your hit rate on the lottery is insanely low. That doesn't change with a token.
5MM… just googled it and it’s 750k on average so your estimate was a lil bit off. A token would honestly benefit you. I’m sure you’d be willing to pay for than the average person to acquire it and then you’d have exclusive access and not have to worry about the drops on the app or driving all over the state to go to sneaker stores to get your secret pairs.
Sure, but Nike isn't going to do that. They could have had a pay for access system set up for the last 10 years if they wanted to. They could have had a "Premium Snkrs" account for $5k a year and sold thousands of them if they wanted to. I'd absolutely pay for a club that gave me automatic access to pairs but that's not going to happen. Nike won't allow their accounts to do it either. If they did, boutiques would do it. What you're talking about could be easily done with on their current system, just have an upgrade to premium feature. I do think they'll incorporate block chain somehow for authentication purposes though.
From 2019 In 2019, Nike was granted a patent for “CryptoKicks,” a system for releasing digital footwear that could entail linking physical shoes with virtual versions that can be sold, traded, or stored in an online blockchain “locker.” The brand also envisioned the potential for “breeding” two pairs of digital shoes to create novel “shoe offspring,” whose origins would be tracked on a blockchain, a type of distributed digital ledger. Locker = marketplace. Snkrs = marketplace.
They're talking about resell. Fakes are a massive issue in sneakers. If I can verify a pair I'm buying/selling is legit on a blockchain, it eliminates that risk. That's the use in the sneaker world. They aren't talking about a pay for access to drops token.
You're the only one saying pay for access token. I'm saying they are building an NFT marketplace that will replace or integrate with Snkrs
Penguin The Duck fakes are such a huge issue that there's a companies like StockX and Goat that are both worth billions. They've gone from start up to billions in 5 years. They act as a middleman that "verifies authenticity" of shoes. I list a pair, you buy the pair, I ship to StockX, they verify they are legit and then ship to you. They take 7-9%. They are the marketplace. Not sure if Nike would ever be the one to host a resell marketplace bc that would look really really bad but I do think they'll incorporate blockchain to make verifying authenticity easier. I assume the token will transfer with the sale through StockX or something.
No, they aren't. They may attach an nft to each pair to help with legitimacy but they aren't going to host a resell marketplace. Zero chance. The sneaker community would revolt if Nike/Adidas did that. And no, I'm not the one saying token for access.
The NFT token associated w/ Nike currently has a floor price of $35k so it's not out of line with what he's saying. Nike is building a platform beyond just utilizing the blockchain to verify fakes. I'm not going to argue about it with you. I just showed a quote from 2019 where they are building a marketplace. Here is them filing for the trademark for the digital/physical storefront. You're still not familiar on the subject and still in denial.
They aren't going to run a resell makertplace where you can buy and sell pairs like stockx. Zero chance. You're now showing your ignorance on this subject. #Sneakers
Darn, good thing I'm done arguing about it so we can move along. Next. Nowhere have I said anything about resell. Nor does the trademark filing. But I'm ignorant for not reading your mind.
They're setting up a marketplace for digital shoes. That's more your lane, not mine. This is completely independent of snkrs, where physical pairs are sold. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nike-metaverse-rtfkt-nikeland-roblox-nft/
can't wait to plug into the metaverse for the day and find my sneakers were hacked by a 12yo macedonian kid so now i have to walk around barefoot like a NORMIE at the e-mall before i can buy a new pair
going to use my DAO I control through multiple wallets and a forced takeover of the rest the citizens that controls the laws in my metaverse and ban you
the weirdest part of the metaverse stuff is it seems almost identical to those of us who have played mmorpg's over the years or more directly Second Life i can't wrap my brain around that people think this will be normal and everyone will take part
There's obviously a market for it in gaming. I think those are the only people who expect it to be normal and for everyone to take part. Zuckerberg is the only one who thinks we're going to our Zoom meetings before playing Ready Player One
Is the concept of the Metaverse similar to that shitty Gerard butler movie where he’s controlled in a video game by Percy Jackson
Yea its not new. I do think it can be big, but it's not new. You can go to the mall and go shopping at Nike, Adidas, New Era, American Eagle, and even streetwear like Patta and BBC all on 2k to deck your player out. My closet is deeper than I'd like to admit so I get it. If they made unique shoes and only one person could own Chicago AJ1 or og red AM1's, the bidding would be nuts and I'd spend more than I'd like to admit.
If Metaverse = gaming NFTs in the metaverse = your unique playable character and all those cute add ons your (or your kid) purchases in the app store currently This time you own them and can use them across multiple games. But hopefully, none of you waste your money on in-game add ons as an adult.
