Maybe, maybe not. State set the bar pretty low to get in last year going 15-12 and 9-11 in the conference. There is a path to get there. After overachieving for a decade plus, I guess this stuff happens here and there. Still surprising they are playing so poorly. Full agreement from TMB Michigan fans them going to a Magic game for Franz and Mo before UCF was a terrible idea. That was on a Thursday, the following Tuesday at Rutgers 4 were out, and now more than 6.
That’s a HIPPA! Please respect our privacy during these difficult times. We’re all in this together. Thank you to our frontline heroes.
once again. There is no proof that only 4 are eligible, and teams don’t release the tests results. The game would have been played today had Michigan been playing Southern Utah.
I’m sorry the rules agreed upon before the season started are not to your liking. If only other athletic directors could write an open letter complaining…..about the rules they agreed to.
We know there is less than 7. It’s fucking rich you pounding your chest about Mickey mouse titles and you want to play Michigan with at most 6 scholarship players.
Rest of the B1G should form an alliance and cancel every game against Michigan the rest of the season. A win over them will only hurt our RPI / Net Rankings. They can go fuck themselves, and play Wayne State and Madonna College the rest of the year.
No we don’t know that. Michigan is claiming that, but without having to provide results, anybody can claim whatever the fuck they want. Same reason you’re going to duck Purdue on Tuesday.
It's hilarious to me that there are people dumb enough to think that program is ducking another team. I mean, you have to have a sub 80 iq to honestly think that. Basically you're on par with people who think Donald Trump cares about them.
Yes we do. Michigan had 8 available Rutgers and lost. You really think if those those same 8 were available that Michigan would cancel knowing they need wins vs top 25 teams? Game was at home, and basically a pick ‘em in Vegas (I did see State by 2 yesterday at its highest) You honestly can’t be that dense.
they also don’t need an embarrassing home court blowout loss to their rival. Gotta be above .500 to qualify for the CBI tournament.
Lol. Whatever you say. Cancelling marquee home games where the spread is less than 2 points makes total sense. And lol at locking in their tournament fate on…(checks notes)…January 8th.
I’m interested in knowing what the internal protocols that led to this decision are and why that is a postponement and not a forfeit. Do schools alone get to make these decisions now?
Do you realize Michigan was favorites in all 6 of their losses, and almost all of those they lost by double digits (maybe all but one)?
Reread my post. They aren’t cancelling a Saturday afternoon game vs a rival in what should be a close game unless there is absolutely no way to play (less than 7 players.) That’s the point. As for the blowout, Sparty’s play vs High Pointe, Nebraska, and NW don’t exactly help your cause in the last 3. But I really liked the complaining about the torturous drive down to Ann Arbor. They got a free night stay in a hotel…the horror! Keep doing that one.
postponement v forfeiture is per the big ten policy https://bigten.org/news/2021/12/28/...en-conference-covid-19-forfeiture-policy.aspx
This states that in consultation with the Big Ten CMO a contest may be postponed, cancelled, or forfeited. It also implies burden of proof, leading back to my question about internal decisions. I’m going to just assume it was a poorly written tweet and this was a decision by the Big Ten CMO
fair enough. Yeah not sure what all goes into the process. But they changed the forfeit v postponement rules a couple weeks ago. I wouldn’t think it’s unilateral but I’m also not sure the big ten is verifying test results either.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that the most antivaxxx / maga athletic dept. in the conference has consistently struggled to field teams throughout the pandemic. I'm glad that they decided not to jeopardize the season of a more successful team by spreading their infections. It just grinds me to know that this spread most likely happened at a team celebration of the insurrection.
Reading isn’t for all Spartans, Chuck. No problem. Better question. Have the Spartan Dawgs made the long voyage back to the friendly confines of the Woodshed all in one piece? I cannot get over how difficult it must have been to sleep in a hotel. At least we know what Izzo will blame the next loss on; scout team is safe this time!
I wasn't shit posting. It's difficult to read with so many grammatical errors and poor sentence structure. We've all become used to the arrogance and stench of your fan base.
To be honest, I’m not sure why anything from East Lansing is allowed to leave the county with numbers like this.. https://www.lansingstatejournal.com...h-school-students-absent-thursday/9122959002/
Probably because our basketball program isn't full of maga chuds so they are vaccinated, boosted, and able to follow some pretty basic safety protocols. Unlike, apparently, the wolverines.
According to Vin, how do we know? They didn’t publish the testing results of the positive players! My favorite part of all this is that Michigan is desperate for quad 1 wins. Michigan has an important opportunity to they need to take advantage of. But yes, they are ducking a legitimate chance to boost the resume in a winnable game at home. Some real galaxy brain stuff going on in Spartan Nation.
How do we know what? We didn't duck out of any games. If you're asserting that they didn't really have covid and were using it as an excuse to hide other injuries, I don't think it matters or care since they've all played since. Trying to even compare the two situations is some mgoblog level shit. As you pointed out, EL is thick with covid right now and MSU has done an admirable job or keeping a team ready to go. Michigan, on the other hand, has two possibilities: They are actually ducking games they're afraid to play (most likely) They're maga chuds and not taking COVID seriously.
You said the Spartans were doing a good job with COVID following “basic protocols”. I pointed out a week ago that they had 4 guys out because of COVID. So great job it wasn’t more I guess? Michigan had 5 available scholarship players per The Athletic. Juwan’s opinion on playing is irrelevant. I’m not sure anything else matters.
Per that article, it was 5 fully available + the 2 that were cleared to come off COVID protocols, yet being held out and considered doubtful, though practiced yesterday + 2 close contacts to the newly positive individual, that were not boosted.
