Rich Bisaccia said he failed out of math class when the tie scenario was brought up, but sure he is going to enlist game theory in this spot!
No coach would be blacklisted for doing something that gets their team to the playoffs The realistic tie scenario is if it's close in the 4th quarter or goes to OT neither team has an incentive to win so it will be naturally conservative. Not collusion, just two teams that have no reason to try hard to win. Basically any game that has a tie score it's really like each team can act like they have a 1 point lead. That'll lead to some weird shit
I don't think they'll set out to try for a tie all game but if it's remotely close late then I think they will. And they should. The goal is to make the playoffs, not win this game.
No serious person is really suggesting that I don't think. We all want it but they'd both get kicked out of the playoffs. Same thing happened in the Olympics about 10 years ago
I don't think they'd get kicked out but I don't think there's any way they just kneel it out either. I think we'll see a lot of runs and QB's with instructions to take zero chances of turning the ball over in their own territory.
No way. Goodell would say he was disappointed and they'd look to make changes but no way do they get replaced by 2 teams that didn't qualify. This is dumb though, they aren't going to do it.
Rule 17.1.10 of the NFL’s official rulebook regards “Commissioner Authority,” and it states: “The Commissioner has the sole authority to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary and/or corrective measures if any club action, non-participant interference, or calamity occurs in an NFL game which the Commissioner deems so extraordinarily unfair or outside the accepted tactics encountered in professional football that such action has a major effect on the result of the game.” They literally have a rule for it.
Going into this week, knowing this could have been a potential outcome, why didn't they flex the game out of the night spot and have both games take place at the same time?
Because the least likely variable was the Jaguars beating the colts so they thought they were going to end the season on a de facto playoff game. they still are despite many dreamers thinking otherwise.
Slightly related, I worked for a college lacrosse team 10 years ago where they had to win or lose by 6+ to make the conference championship game. They faced a team that could only win by 1-5 to make it. They spent an entire day practicing scoring on themselves (I assume the other team did too) before the conference emailed both teams and threatened double elimination if they did it
If anyone has Bookmaker, they have a clear line error with Anett Kontaveit. She was -800 prematch. On serve at 2-1 shes -103
Just no Stafford INT please. Have a 2 cigar bet with a buddy whose a San Fran friend that Stafford would have under 3.5 INT against the 49ers this season
So a buddy parlayed jags ml + Chargers/Raiders tie. $10 to win $2650. I am telling him that he needs to bet on both teams and lock a profit right now but he is in fairytale land about the intentional tie scenario.
I’d die if somehow this ends up being like 24-24 where there’s a few missed FGs in OT or something. All these people would act like THAT is what they expected when they bet it.
When oddsmakers are tweeting about their “liability” on this prop you know the public about to get killed Its like the "big bet alert!" during UFC cards, i'm pretty sure they are like 10% lifetime
