HOW THE FUCK IS GRIER ALLOWED TO STAY???? YOU'RE LETTING THE GUY WHO PICKED OUR AWFUL OLINE, SUSPECT QB AND A PLETHORA OF OTHER GARBAGE ON OFFENSE STAY?????????????? WTF ROSS
I agree, but he was pretty fucking good on defense. I just don't know how "fair" this is. He didn't really get a chance to stay through the complete rebuild considering he inherited a total tear down tank job. And you can't say the team isn't much much better than before he got here. I thought he deserved another year, but maybe we can upgrade.
Pretty widely understood Grier gives a lot of say in personnel to the coach. Grier doing good in the trade department, and has managed cap well. There’s also rumor out there we’re going to go back to a “football czar” situation to oversee things…..
He'll fail just like Gase. I still for the life of me cannot figure out why people like Flores. Dude sucks
He's "exceeded expectations" to most. Exceeding low expectations will always be more celebrated than actual big time winning except in the few cases where they are the same thing.
Imagine celebrating mediocrity. I'm glad the franchise is rejecting that nonsense but to keep Grier... Is completely unacceptable. Full clean house should've happened here. You can't keep one and fire the other
I get that Flores had to be fired but Grier staying is ownership malpractice. Also pretty much ensures that Tua comes back
Maybe I'm the minority, but I dont hate Tua being the QB. Give him and actual offense line and let him develop before we just get another QB to ruin
Flo had a constant turnover with his staff. 3 OCs in 3 years. Each of them worse than the one before. How is any of that acceptable? Also, get Grier out of my life as well. He did FINE with the trades, but has failed at FA EVERY year. Winning 7 in a row against weak competition doesn't impress me. Sorry. Dropping games to the Jaguars and Falcons is a much bigger deal than 7 in a row.
Considering he could have stood pat and taken Chase. I think that's an L right now. As good as Waddle is, Chase looks gamebreaking special. But then again, we haven't seen Waddle used correctly yet.
Holland, Waddle, Wilkins, got X to stay, Sieler is great...theres a lot you can argue in favor of Grier. The biggest missteps are obviously the OL, The Fuller mess, and still not having a reliable RB (although Duke is great to keep), and then maybe not having a better backup QB. Like you CAN make the argument for him. This isn't the Giants. Flores is weird because most people are judging him on the last 9 games and not the 8 beforehand.
Unfortunately, Grier's eventual undoing is going to be that he took Tua over Herbert, which 9/10 GM's probably do in the same position
I don't blame Grier for Fuller. It was a low risk flier that didn't work. All it cost was 1 year of cap space. Now Kyle Van Noy and all the other multi-year contracts he gave out that ended up getting cut after 1 season. SKEWER the man. THIS. They spent the entire first half of the season looking like a team that had no fucking clue what it was doing on both sides of the ball. How on earth can anyone look at the first half results and find them acceptable?
We got an extra first, third, and Waddle for moving back. So idk if you can fully evaluate who won the trade yet I am very happy with Waddle
Also one thing on Flores and the defense....the defense kept coming up short in big spots. You can argue they lost the first Patriots game. You can then say they didn't close out the second Patriots game. They didn't stop game winning drives against the falcons raiders or Jaguars. There's another level to that defense given the talent on it
Grier isn't a good GM but the narrative that Flores didn't deserve to be fired is asinine. He inexplicably fired the only decent OC the team has had in years after one year and hired a geriatric who hadn't coached in years to take his place. Then compounded that decision by elevating two guys who had never called plays before to try the get the most out of a young QB. Nevermind the fact that he did everything in his power to destroy that young QB's confidence. Not saying that Tua or Grier for that matter are answers, but Flores 100% deserved to be let go.
I look at it more as opportunity cost. What else could you have done with that spot for a unit that could have used some more help. Granted, the coaching staff likely wouldn't have done much different. But I think it wasted an opportunity with an improving unit.
