There’s no excuse for Chansi Stuckey to be considered at this point

That is not a good hire based on resume

So we chose a guy with 1 year on his resume vs 2 very well proven WR coaches. Like I said maybe that is who they want. But on surface doesn't look like that's the move they wanted

No, because the guy is completely and totally unproven. Which also isn’t a great complement to a somewhat young and unproven existing staff.

I’d like a guy with more experience on a younger offensive staff, but I said I wouldnt complain since Alexander being fired was my wish. :twocents:

ND has done the established skill coach over and over again to the same mediocre results- might as well try something different

Shepherd had UW lined up, we got in the way, if telling him to chill a day made him decide to go to there than so be it.

i have questions about Stuckey but they must like him.

I guess I am going to have to believe good coaches know how evaluate other good coaches. So if this is whom CMF feels is the best fit giving them the best chance to win - so be it.

He’s not a recruit- he didn’t just decide fuck ND I’m moving my family three time zones and 1,000 miles away over ND finishing its interview process. I’m guessing ND actually passed on him

And I gave D3 a chance again today, he made some comment about how if Kelly had just done what “they” said in August we could have won it all… it was somewhat tongue in cheek but you can tell he believes shit like that.

Shephard was his favorite so any result other than that and he was going to shit on it,

nah, that is not completely true. He is not really that guy.

I don’t even know what he said about the new guy but driskell sounds like this sometimes but he is not that guy. He believes what he says but if he sees he is wrong he won’t shy away.

i don’t know the guy but he has been pretty consistent over the years, the fans have been less consistent than him. He is just always a bit too much

I'm not even saying he's wrong, it's just another example of his out of whack self value. He gets out over his skis on stuff like this and now it's "bungled" when nothing really points to that, he used that phrasing because his guy didn't get the job, it's how he operates.

Can someone just post a random tweet that says this stuckey guy is an amazing recruiter so we can all latch onto that.

also if he isn’t good we will get to call him Coach Suckey which is a positive.

I remember him at Clemson and Baylors receivers seems pretty good last year. :idk:

I dont care about Driskell either way, he just seems like the type to throw words out for clicks. I’d love for someone to post the story beyond a coach was mad an elite football school wanted to interview another candidate. That sounds like complete bullshit.

So Chansi Stuckey it is. This is a super, super risky hire and I am not sold on this hire, at all. I just got off the phone with some folks and told them that, but was also willing to listen as to why this decision was made. Based on that, I understand why they made the decision even though I don’t necessarily agree with the outcome.

So here’s what I’ve gathered from the conversations. Coming into the interview process there was almost universal thought that Purdue’s JaMarcus Shephard would be the guy. Shephard interviewed yesterday and things went very, very well. I’m told that the had already committed to interviewing Stuckey today but that as of yesterday Shephard was considered “the guy.”

According to my source, that changed today. Stuckey absolutely blew away the coaches during the interview process. For a coach with just one year of experience I’m told he had a great grasp of Xs and Os and also had a great teaching plan for coaching. I’m told they felt his NFL experience has really helped him learn the ins and outs, and he’s ready to shine.

The other interesting thing I was told is that Stuckey came very, very highly recommended from Dabo Swinney (his boss in 2019-20 and was his position coach at Clemson when Stuckey was a player), and also by Dave Aranda as a teacher.

Basically, Notre Dame is trying to re-create what happened with Brian Hartline at Ohio State, a guy with no coaching experience but an extensive playing background immediately turning into a great coach. They are optimistic he will, we will have to see how it plays out.
