had a feeling this might happen after freeman took over playcalling in the bowl, but never thought he'd leave this line behind
I have no clue if Al Washington can coach DL, but ND likely needs someone who can recruit Ohio with Elston gone. I don't know what Washington has done at OSU, but his one year at UM (which he didn't even finish) led to basically the only year under Harbaugh where UM had any presence in Ohio. I think 6 guys from Ohio signed with UM that year.
and other than erick all were complete non factors, Washington did seem like a good recruiter though.
I think Washington is an okay coach and a solid recruiter. He was in a bad situation with our clown defense. He didn't help but he wasn't the cause either.
Just went to go find Keon Keeley's "commitment picture" he posted, expecting to say "well, this is good, his commitment photo is only him and Freeman." But, nope, its him, Freeman, and Elston
I wonder also if it’s the work life balance thing he constantly touted kelly was All about a bit too. I work in a slave driving industry but it was always really weird to me to have a coach making a million dollars saying that he pushed hard for a work life balance.
kelly's work/life balance. at work: make as few calls as possible, at home: call alum that can get me on a great golf course
With the pitch on hiring CMF being partially about building on the infrastructure that was already here as much as possible, the Elston loss is a particularly tough one.
It looks like elston stayed thinking he would get the dc job, he did not call a great game in the bowl game(might not be his fault completely) then Freeman moved on from him as a dc and he started to look. So the plan was cool until Nd got hit in the mouth i watched true detective
I've been told in this thread many times that momentum doesn't exist in sports, so I'll hold my thoughts to myself.
Seriously we need to settle down a bit, this situation was never going to be as smooth as it looked. The honeymoon was over after the bowl game and who knows if it’s not a good thing. Looks like they got who they wanted at wr coach unless all we hear is bs. That’s really want I care about. Get the people that Freeman wants here, was elston the best fit to coach the defensive line in his defense? i know nothing about the heacock thing except that most here did not want any part of him a few weeks ago. I would’ve love the hire but let’s see who Nd gets before panicking
that would be devastating but I think I heard a few podcast saying it was not the case at all edit, just remembered. Driskell said that about the wr coach, it was really not about money. They just wanted chansi more
