Thought I would share this for anyone on the fence about vaccinating their kids. I talked to our pediatrician last night to just ask how things were going. She said they had 150 kids test positive yesterday and the ones with the most severe symptoms were unvaccinated. She said the sickest population was teenagers and they ended up having to admit 4 this week for severe symptoms.
I don’t know man. Someone said earlier they were able to run 3 miles with omicron so your doctor is probably lying.
My boys, 15 & 17, are double vaxxed but not boosted, yet. Wife and I are vaxxed and boosted. My 15 year old tested positive last week. His symptoms were pretty mild, but he had it. I'm glad he's vaxxed. His older brother will be boosted soon, and he will be when able. I can't imagine making a decision to not protect your children.
I started this thread around 2 months before Trump says he had ever even heard about Covid-19 so tell her she's not alone
Given my wife lost her taste & smell it seems more likely delta is what took my house down over Christmas. BUT, I was still able to fight through the fatigue & skate on my pond for an hour, so delta ain’t shit boys!
My wife’s a pediatric nurse and her hospital is full with Covid kids. It’s by far the largest number of patients they’ve had at one time throughout this whole thing. And they are offering $700 bonuses per extra shift someone picks up bc they just can’t get enough staffing.
How undercounted are the positive cases rn? Everyone I know that tests positive uses the free home tests and then just chills at home for 5 days.
btw that ^ guy was named in a sex discrimination lawsuit, along with the city of Mondovi and former police chief Scott Smith. The suit was settled in 2019, with the city of Mondovi paying $325,000 in the settlement. (Mondovi is a community of just under 3,000.)It gets better. He was the mayor and sexually harassed and stalked a police officer repeatedly until she had to quit her job and move. He would smell the seat in her patrol car after she finished her shifts and would show up at her house in the middle of the night.
Im not sure Im gonna take a word this guy says when he can clearly see his receding hairline/ mullet growing out the back and hasn't done anything to stop that which is clearly seen.
I have a boosted friend who maintains she had been kn95'n for shopping and otherwise staying outside (as far as public goes) and she's now positive and can't figure how she caught it aside from talking to ppl outside which... fuccccck.
wife has been exhausted and body aches and a sore throat/congestion. her pcr from wednesday came back negative. still waiting on mine not sure how she's negative (and she may be positive now after being around the kids
honestly this variant wave is demoralizing. I *think* I’ve avoided it for almost 2 years but now have a feeling of ‘when’ where with the other waves I felt more in control
trying to figure out how someone got it is an endless game was she talking to people outside w/o a mask? bc "less likely" does not mean "impossible" or does she wash her hands every time she comes home, does she take her shoes off, does she change clothes, etc
Yes that's what I was trying to suggest initially. I have been assuming this whole time that I can get away with *that* and to hear otherwise is pretty disappointing.
This. I know that you’re more likely to catch it from breathing it in but I can’t help but think that it’s not possible to catch it not doing all those either. We have to use a keypad to get in and out of the gate of our apartment complex and always make sure to wash my hands after using it. Did it before Covid, but I doubt a lot of people that live here do the same because they don’t think about that stuff. I assume everything always had fecal matter on it so I was a germaphobe before all of this.
Fomite transmission is pretty low with this virus (like I think there are arguments to be made it’s close to zero)
My best friend who is vaccinated and has stage 5 kidney disease has it right now and is feeling like you describe. But omicron ain't shit, he should go run 3 miles.
Less than 1 in 10000 chance of getting infected via touching a contaminated surface. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/science-and-research/surface-transmission.html Quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) studies have been conducted to understand and characterize the relative risk of SARS-CoV-2 fomite transmission and evaluate the need for and effectiveness of prevention measures to reduce risk. Findings of these studies suggest that the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection via the fomite transmission route is low, and generally less than 1 in 10,000, which means that each contact with a contaminated surface has less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of causing an infection 7, 8, 9. Some studies estimated exposure risks primarily using outdoor environmental SARS-CoV-2 RNA quantification data. They noted that their QMRA estimates are subject to uncertainty that can be reduced with additional data to improve the accuracy and precision of information that is entered into the models. Concentrations of infectious SARS-CoV-2 on outdoor surfaces could be expected to be lower than indoor surfaces because of air dilution and movement, as well as harsher environmental conditions, such as sunlight. One QMRA study also evaluated the effectiveness of prevention measures that reduce the risk of fomite transmission and found that hand hygiene could substantially reduce the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission from contaminated surfaces, while surface disinfection once- or twice-per-day had little impact on reducing estimated risks 9.
It’s probably a fit issue - also masks aren’t perfect even a kn95, although I wouldn’t think in a retail shopping environment it wouldn’t be enough in most cases. Also we know it can spread outside it’s not magic but if she was not distanced and it was a still day or something it could still spread
gas pumps are so gross. Even before covid I would sanitize the hell out of my hands after using a pump.
booze solves the plandemic imo i do dry january for like 3 days and immediately catch it something to consider!
