That was a big part of it for the Wild, this part of the schedule just happened to be pretty heavy with road games against Canadian teams (with Ottawa being one of them). Ottawa certainly takes the cake with their break, though.
Wonder if he’s talking about Seguin. He’s been below replacement level this year. That contract looks top 5 worst in the league right now.
Does anyone know the threshold to postpone games? Is it a total number of skaters? Or a min amount of forward and defensemen ?
Considering Matthews has 1 primary assist this season this is absurd. Nobody on his line can finish a play this year lol
Yeah, the puck was in across the line IMO, but there's no angle that could possibly show it definitively. One of those plays where the refs called it differently from the letter of the rule. Plays like that have pretty much always been called as no goal in the past.
Was pleasantly surprised to see how many points Ivan Barbashev has this season. He tore up the Q but then seemed stuck as a grinder in the NHL.
I want to see a fastest skater comp with the goalies in full gear. Until then I will no longer watch all star games fastest skater competitions.
It’s nuts to think that the eight playoff teams in the East are already decided. The drama now is in who wins the Atlantic, which should be a fun race to watch. Hopefully these teams decide to get aggressive making moves well before the deadline.
I’m pretty sure it’d be impossible for them not to decline given the amount of players who have already had it the past month or so
He was forced to center the top line for most of his rookie year and I think that stunted his development a bit. Then the blues just had crazy forward depth it kept him on the 4th line. He's gotten to play w Tarasenko & Buchnevich as well as ORielly and Perron and has really shined. Developed into one of those jack knife players that can do a little bit of everything. Move up and down the line up, great pk guy, can play on the PP too
The east is an absolute meat grinder. We are looking at a situation where the 7th and 8th place teams are likely going to be two of: Bruins with Rask, Washington with Ovi having his best season in a long time a possibly healthy Penguins or Shesterkin Your best bet if you win your division is the rangers? Meanwhile, the west has LA, Anaheim, and San Jose currently sitting in playoff possition.
The Metro is going to be a shit show too. The Caps are in the 1st wildcard spot because they refuse to decide games in regulation. Pens are enfuego. Canes and Rangers schedules will be home heavy in the 2nd half and the Rangers seem to be for real.
Nahhhhh. Their underlying numbers are extremely mediocre. Shesterkin is masking a ton of flaws and Panarin is doing just enough to keep that team on the positive side of things.
Their only losses in the last 2 months are to other division leaders, and they’ve got some really good wins in that time span too. They may come crashing down, and I admittedly don’t know the underlying numbers you reference, but the results seem to suggest they can hang. The offense does seem suspect tho, I’ll admit. They don’t have the goal diff you’d expect from a 54 point team.
Here are some of their last few games Overall, they are in mediocre at best company performance wise, but Shesterkin is playing at a Hart caliber level winning them almost every coinflip game and even games they get severely outplayed.
As much as I want Tampa/Florida ASAP, I think Florida/Toronto is a more fun first round matchup. For one thing, it’ll be exciting hockey. But like, one of those teams would have to win the series, and the absurdity of what could happen is next level.
Maybe this will come off as homerish but really don’t think being 1-9 past regulation is a good thing. Imagine there’s several teams with more OT games, just have 9 loser points because we’re dreadful at 3 on 3 *2-9 actually, 0-7 3 on 3
The Panthers already lost their immovable object v. unstoppable force matchup with the islanders a few years ago. They are due to win a series. PLEASE!!!!!
