Hasn’t done anything in his career due to injuries and seems like those could prevent success in the future. We didn’t want him as a recruit and aren’t really upset with him leaving.
the new thing is to always have a player on the roster with only 1 good leg Milt the stilt filled the quota last season, we've zeroed in on this kid to be 22's gimp
That was the rumor earlier in the week. But he should be close to to graduation. Might just be summer for him.
He's just going into portal now, but wont be able to enroll at next school until after this semester (so he completes graduation).
Oregon prior to RB coach Jim Mastro had a very strong history of RB recruiting and development. We led the league in rushing for like 10+ years straight at one point, I think. Mastro (and Taggart's guy for one year) recruited low-ranked prospects that he thought were good.** Benson was one of them. He was some 3* from Mississippi that few teams in the SE recruited. Our primary RBs (Dye in portal, Verdell tbd) have been starting for years now. That - plus us never really blowing teams out - meant that Benson and the other Mastro-recruited RBs - have basically never played. I guess Benson had some sort of devastating McGahee-like knee injury in practice and some people say he'll basically never be the same RB as he was recruited. Personally, I doubt whether he was 'all that' before the injury. He got action in a couple of game this year and I thought he looked fine fwiw. **editing to clarify that "we thought were good" meant the coaching staff, not fans. i mentioned the history of RBs at Oregon to note that fans are generally frustrated with our RBs over the last few years and Benson was looked at as a guy who a bad RB coach scouted that few other teams really wanted.
Hopefully Miami or fsu is good again soon because dabo is going to get entirely too comfortable rolling out average teams and winning 10 games every year
