Lost about 30 pounds last spring but didn't participate in this because I'm an idiot. Shooting for hitting 190 for the first time in 8+ years. We will just have to see if we can do it! Best of luck, everyone. Excited to take this journey with y'all.
Last time I took this seriously in 2019 I dropped 55 lbs. Kept it level till Covid but then my habits just went to crap so I’m back. 280.6 Spoiler
I've got another month of a brutal work schedule. I had dropped 25 pounds and was feeling great. Busy season hit and I've been eating horrible as a stress release/because it's convenient. Looking forward to things slowing down and getting back into eating better.
Beef jerky and protein powder but yeah it's cutting it close to hit those numbers and be around that in calories
I'm not really watching body comp because I don't have a good way to track it. Mainly just trying to watch calories and continue to see progress in the gym. The weight goal is just to be able to compete in a lower weight class in weightlifting.
Still need initial weigh-in: dukebuckeye Where Eagles Dare Odin *need payment* C Yank The Hebrew Husker *need payment* Doug hudson Name P. Redacted GboroKidd If you have posted and I missed it please bump your post.
It's not my fault meth wasn't on the list of banned performance enhancing drugs Spoiler I've got to quit avoiding squats and deadlifts. I didn't go to the gym once in November or December. Maybe me posting this, someone from the weightlifting thread will make fun of regiment. I also workout at Planet Fitness. Finally no shame in admitting that. I wanted to join the new Crunch gym in town with real squat racks. But I am in between two cities right now, and there is a PF 5-10 mins of each place. So it's convenient and I'm not pushing enough weight to matter right now. You're going to want to fuck me when this is over jbr . I've got lake season and Bonnaroo to get ready for. This is very similar to what I did during the last competition. Except I didn't skip leg day like I already have here. I've tracked every lift Ive done. This was the first day at the gym the Monday start day of the last competition. I didn't total probably 1 hour of cardio last year. But I did start a majority of my workouts on the stair climber for 5 mins. I need to start that again.
Im out this time around. Still following the thread and might even post for accountability, but I have a few work things that might get in the way with keeping pace with the contest (hopefully not)
If you put us together we'd probably be one really good lifter because I refuse to touch machines and hate benching but love doing barbell back, front, and overhead squats and deadlifts.
I weighed in yesterday at 222. I have an app called VeSync- can I just post that screenshot for my weigh ins?
I’m very tired of my at home HIIT workouts (and haven’t exercised since Xmas). I’d like to start going to the gym once omicron calms down and my younger one gets the vaccine. I think I’ve laid a good enough base from 2021 to not hurt myself.
I’m not going to pretend I’m any sort of expert but I feel like taking in those calories that are targeted toward heavy strength training may result in the same 100-lb fat loss in say 80 body weight pounds. Mainly I don’t want you to get close to the number and start to feel frustrated when the pounds stop dropping, but you’ve probably already achieved the losses you were going for.
I'll probably just weigh in Saturday so I keep my normal schedule of weekly weigh ins. I'm not too worried about 2-3# difference to start the contest
Everyone paid but Odin Still need weigh-ins from WED (said he'd do it Saturday), Odin obviously, C Yank, Doug, hudson, Name P. Redacted, GboroKidd
Since I got back from Jamaica on 1/5, I'm averaging ~2050 calories a day with ~195g of protein. I'd love to improve that ratio but I also don't feel like cutting out nuts, cheese, rice, potatoes, fruit, or corn so if anything I might just add an extra protein shake and sit around 2200 calories with closer to 220g of protein. Might lose a bit slower but will maintain more muscle mass.
You basically have to only consume meat and protein powder once you get down low enough in calories to hit ~200g+ and yeah most people don't want to do that for any period of time or I don't at least
I'm on eating around 2,000 calories and 180-200g protein a day right now too. But no dairy or starchy vegetables for me. Weight loss is definitely slower with the upped protein count.
if that is fine, here is my weigh in. if its not fine you arent allowed to open the spoiler. thanks. Spoiler
I guess I’ll give this a try. Daddy Rabbit Someone PM me details. I’ve gained so much weight over the last year. It’s bad.
back on the 16/8 intermittent fasting. Eating from 1-9.. lunch is normally at 1 here anyways. Need to lower the carbs and sugar, but I suck down wintergreen mints while at work. Mint sparks the brain they say.. Trying to make sure I drink a gallon of water a day. And I've gone sober.. there is a wedding in June but I might just be sober forever. We'll see. Dry January has been nice so far, I've just eaten like shit especially on the weekends. This weekend will be the challenge, especially stress watching the Bucs when we lose to LA
Good. About to go to the gym and lift. Food intake was good today. 2 apples, 2 oranges, 1 chobani flips and 2 protein bars all consumed morning-afternoon Dinner was turkey breast, broccoli, and brown rice topped with hot sauce and salsa. Will do 2 scoops of protein powder(50g) post gym when I get home.
Let’s see… Food intake was shitty. Drank two sodas in the morning because I have no self control, lunch was a peanut butter and honey sandwich with some pretzels, snack was too many wasabi almonds, I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner, and proceeded to drink some beers/whiskey after everyone else in my house went to sleep. Topped off the night with popcorn and more almonds. Diet starts Monday.
Working on diet mostly. Haven’t had any fast food in two weeks except when the in-laws brought CFA earlier this week. This is mostly a budget plan thing, but helpful in general with weight. Trying to transition junk out of the groceries over the next few weeks.
I lost about 30 pounds from March to August last year but didn't participate in the competition. I am a natural intermittent faster in that I rarely eat breakfast and instead just eat lunch and dinner between 12-8pm every day. I also count calories and eat 2000-2500 a day Monday through Friday lunch. Then I eat whatever I want on the weekend but try not to overindulge too much. I also do some weight lifting and cardio a few days a week. Took Thanksgiving through December off as a treat to myself to not fret over counting calories during the holiday season but have now gotten back into the swing of things. Planning to continue with the calorie counting but double the amount of exercise in hopes it'll allow me to eat a bit more while still losing weight and building muscle. My weight can easily swing 5-7 pounds in a day which feels crazy. My weight on Monday night had me at 219 and my weight Wednesday morning was 209. Now back to about 214 after a birthday celebration last night so we'll see how it goes! Excited for the shared journey and accountability regardless of whether or not I win any monies.
With 3 kids under 3, dry January or sobriety aren't an option for me. I am going strictly Scotch/hard liquor diet and no beer, though the caloric difference isn't that much. I've also convinced myself that penicillin cocktails (lemon juice, honey/ginger syrup, and scotch) is a healthy drink.
Dear Diary: I've been pretty good with my eating this week. I've been intermittent fasting, only eating between 12-8, which works for me because I rarely have time to eat breakfast, and have a really bad tendency to eat a bunch right before bed. The Wife and I have also started using a pre-prepared meal service for dinners during the week to keep our portion sizes for dinners in check, and eliminate being too tired to cook and getting takeout. I also haven't drank at all this week (which is super hard for me. I love a good glass of scotch while I read at night.). My sister's birthday is this weekend, and we've already had to say no to going out on Saturday with her and her friends because its no fun to bar hop sober. We still are going to her family birthday thing on Sunday, which will be a good test of holding each other accountable around a bunch of fried food and sweets. Exercise-wise, I haven't really done much, but plan on starting my lifting program tomorrow. My main problem here is the powerlifter in me panics when lifts aren't at a certain number, which makes my brain think I need to eat more to gain strength. Its really toxic and dumb, and I need to make the mental adjustment to losing weight while lifting. I want to work in some cardio outside, but it is so damn cold. I haven't been in a commercial gym in years because of my home gym, but I'm thinking of joining for a few months, just to use the cardio equipment in the winter.
