Kang seems to be the set up for the next big bad. But the introduction of Arishem/Celestials kinda dwarfs any other threat I’d think. I’m not sure hope they’re going to handle it.
they didn’t add shit to the final fight either. Feels like they forgot they were in the fight after like 30 seconds
Finally got around to seeing the Eternals. I liked it...it also helps that I've read Earth X (highly recommend) which explains Celestials/Eternals/Deviants/etc.
The whole time my theory was that this Deviant was going to absorb all of their powers, become good, and be a super hero and save the day. Then he just gets into pieces, it was their last resort because Thena was suffocating, not breathing, because he healed himself after she cut his arm bleeding.
Eternals should have been a D+ series (as we discussed when it came out) because you can't do what they needed to do in that run time. And also because, while Marvel has shown the super hero genre can be done in many forms, it's very difficult to pull it off if you don't know who the bad guy is. It's easier to do that kind of thing with a TV show where all the characters are being fleshed out and you care more about them. It doesn't work when you get cliffs notes versions of characters you don't care about fighting each other and beings you know nothing about for reasons you don't understand. On some level, I think the same thing held Shang Chi back. I think Eternals was Marvel/Feige feeling themselves and thinking they can do anything after stuff like Guardians, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and IW/EG all worked. That idea was not nearly fleshed out enough for them to pull off whatever they were trying to do.
Sure, and if that helps you enjoy it that's great. But Marvel's not making these movies for an audience that has read that source material. Its audience is a bunch of people who has never heard of the Eternals before the first trailer hit.
Eternals is like top 1% of comic readers. I got the Gaiman Eternals as a gift a few years back but haven’t even opened it yet. Even most of the comic book nerds on YouTube that review these movies hadn’t read Eternals.
Gaiman is literally my favorite writer and I’ve had his eternals on my book shelf for like 4 years. Never opened it… says more about me than the eternals though
MCU properties, even ones I know nothing about, are usually pretty well made and entertaining, and I'll definitely be watching Moon Knight when it drops, BUT... That trailer didn't do much for me.
Haven't watched the trailer yet but his origin story is as a US-trained military operative. Other than birth place, he doesn't really have a real tie to anywhere, so London is as likely as anywhere.
Really like that Jon Watts will be directing the MCU Fantastic Four. Also, probably in the minority - hope they don’t cast John Krasinski.
So he definitely has a British accent and that's definitely London...so it seems they're leaning heavily into the personality disorder involving him not knowing who is/was, even when he's not Moon Knight. A little Jason Bourne meets Jekyll and Hyde. Love the song choice for the trailer.
I’ve been obsessed with Ancient Egypt stuff since I was in elementary, so this one has me really excited.
I wasn't as thrilled about it as others until No Way Home. He really showed a skill in balancing banter and action between multiple heroes.
Thinking on this further: Eternals was set in London(so we know that's where Dane is) and Blade was born in London. Strange is technically in NY but we know there's a Sanctum in London. I'm late to all of these conversations because I didn't see Eternals in theater but do we buy into Phastos being the creator of Shang-Chi's rings? It would have obviously been an earlier version of them but he says he's been working on the unimind rings for a very long time. An older version would have included a 10th ring, for Ajak when she was alive.
I don't doubt this but is he even seen in the trailer(s)? Like, a lot of people wouldn't even know he's in the series until it airs.
I had to google to see who he was playing. Don’t think the character has been in any of the trailers.
Naaah. Okay, I am gonna try to go in to DS2 without seeing any (more) trailers. Test that whole thing where I know I'm going to see it anyway, why ruin any surprise?
