Dirty Jobs has new episodes now. New hobby the wife and I have started is watching the show and whenever someone complains about not being able to find good work because the current generation "don't wanna work hard" is to look up the company see what jobs are open and the salaries being offered. You might be surprised to find out that most don't pay well.
I use to love Dirty Jobs and thought Mike Rowe was great. Then I became more socially aware and it was ruined for me. Being an informed citizen can suck sometimes. Most of the time really.
Actually, not surprised. Salary, benefits, working conditions are all considerations on where folks want to work. Not really rocket science...
I can’t find a clip but it’s remarkable that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt did this as a joke in 2018 with a song called I Have a Beat by DJ Fingablast featuring the Estate of Dr Martin Luther King Jr
Got home, changed into a hoodie and sweatpants, made some tea, ate 30 MG and smoked a bowl before settling into my chair to read for a while. Then quickly remembered I washed my favorite blanket last night , smells amazing and is so soft
Reading up on crocodile-caused deaths... this village doesn't play around In July 2018, a man was reportedly killed by a saltwater crocodile in a breeding farm in West Papua, Indonesia. Locals slaughtered 292 crocodiles in revenge
Has this been discussed yet - I was unaware this was a thing. MEXICO CITY — Mexico has seized 380,000 boxes of Corn Flakes, Special K and other Kellogg’s cereals, claiming the boxes had cartoon drawings on them in violation of recently enacted laws aimed at improving children’s diets. https://www.usatoday.com/story/mone...fast-cereal-special-k-corn-flakes/6541350001/
Fruity Pebbles and other brands were hit in the early 1980’s in California litigation for false and deceptive trade practices because their Saturday morning commercials during kids’ cartoons advertised with pictures of real fruit, among other false advertising claims. https://scocal.stanford.edu/opinion/committee-childrens-television-inc-v-general-foods-corp-28335
I honestly don't even mind it - but healthy cereals should be allowed to go scorched earth with their amount of cartoons. Assuming there is a healthy cereal.
The California litigation led Congress to pass the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act in 1990, which gave the FDA power to establish food labeling requirements and advertising standards. Prior to that, a food manufacturer had to disclose ingredients, but there weren’t federal requirements for calories, vitamins, sugars, etc. that we see on labels now.
Reading a discussion thread of a "doggie daycare" on a neighborhood group is an easy way to tell who the bougiest neighbors are
I recall the commercials touting fruity pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch as “a part of this complete breakfast” and they would show a bowl of sugar cereal surrounded by fruits and eggs.
You may recall last year when we wrote about a program launched in Tulsa, Oklahoma to convince remote workers to move there in exchange for $10,000. Now, inspired by Tulsa of all places, Italy’s world-famous City of Canals, Venice, has launched a similar initiative called Venywhere. You won’t get $10,000, but you will get help with visas and housing, language lessons, and to live in what The New York Times called “undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man.”
I always admired Reese’s for just leaning into it, and creating Reese’s Puffs cereal based on their candy.
not going to bump the thread with the stuff anymore but still doing a drawtrap someplace here. Close to done, charcoal version of a lighthouse for a veteran that is donating $100 to our local beer bar to a charity. He said do whatever but wanted a slight sunset and seagulls. This is very Bob Ross like where it’s mostly from my head.
what’s cool about doing this from my head is I just realized I put a lighthouse inside a small cove so the ships are going to crash. my head is an IDIOT
hope you weren’t with her recently because she has covid! Jokes on you, hope you die. (she’s triple vaxxed, and even as a conservative doing really good because she decided that was smart since she has some pre-existing issues…don’t die, we like your dog)
that little building next to the lighthouse is actually an armory ready to make a pirate bow down to me
Super appreciate that, absolutely do. I’d be lying if if I don’t feel good about something. (some i don’t as much, but want to post for critiques) Posting the stuff doesn’t even feel ‘normal’ but I’ve seen how life works now. It opens up a lot of people to my stuff and maybe somebody would want to commission me for it?? so let me know, DM me if your serious, if not; I COMPLETELY get it. I got a little bit of a line (which I’m grateful for) but the longer the line, the better.
I got it in a newsletter. Google gave me this: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/feat...for-new-residents-venice-lures-remote-workers
I have massive issues finding employees - but I don't know anything about Dirty Jobs so I'm assuming they're miserable work environments? Hospitality can't find workers for shit and it pays well - at least in my areas.
