Reading this, I did not expect to see a 7/6, 7/5 92 minute match. It wasn’t as competitive as the score indicates?
They broke each other quite a bit near the end. Kenin was having a melty and Keys was just calm and in control. Never really felt to me like Kenin was just going to take over, mistake after mistake.
I think I read somewhere that the loss takes her outside the top 90 now? It’s something absurdly low.
Sammy Stosur up a break in the 3rd, playing her final career tournament and in front of the home crowd.
Leylah out to Inglis the Aussie WC. The Hailey Baptiste breakout may have finally arrived, knocks out Caroline Garcia.
Some pretty wacky results in the ladies today, with Kvitova & Fernandez both losing. And Stosur actually winning a match (WTF??!). Can't help but fear it's the beginning of the end for Petra.
Big win for Kyrgios, so we’ll get Nick-Medvedev. Wish they’d put it on JCA instead of Laver but they won’t.
I think they might, Nick loves JCA. I remember he faced one of the big 3 a few years back and I thought they had it on JCA.
Rafa and then Thiem, maybe? That was a really fun one for two sets if I’m thinking of the right match. Crowd was wild out there tonight for Liam Brody, lord knows how crazy it’d be for Med. Hope they do it.
Yeah Thiem last year. Pretty sure they’ll put them there. https://inews.co.uk/sport/tennis/ni...ourt-prediction-uk-time-watch-live-867476/amp
Not sure why so many people are asleep with Stef. Yes he was a fucking moron last year but he was 23 and has time to grow. At the same age Zverev was beating up insta models and stealing their passports all over the globe. He's also the same age where Zverev and Medvedev made their leap. Finally, outside of the shithead things he did last year, he never no showed. Split with Medvedev and dropped two of three again Sasha, one win was RG in five sets.
Maybe I misunderstand how betting odds work, but I’m surprised Nadal isn’t higher too. He’s only at 2%.
Good tournament so far - very few upsets apart from a few of the lower women's seeds (Coco, Fernandez, Kvitova, Kerber) and some big matches starting to come up now, like Danil v Kyrgios tomorrow.
Forgot about Kenin - she was probably the biggest name to lose so far, but she struck a red hot Madison Keys. Couple of great 3rd rounds in the ladies - Barty v Georgi and Osaka v Anisimova.
Goddamit - I jinxed things good and proper there, didn't I. Garbine gone in straight sets against Cornet too.
