Matheson was pissed that the media staff didn’t get Koskinen for him so he decided to take it out on Leon.
Friedman says the revised schedule might be released today and that games will resume the Monday following the ASG.
They both come across as cunts in that exchange. But I know for a fact that’s what pissed him off and why he went in here on Leon.
Ya he did. He may not like the question but it’s a legit question. Him being a cunt about the answer is not professional. Not excusing Matheson he was a cunt there too.
I'd say it’s the opposite. I’d say it’s your bias that’s showing thru. I’m not ripping on one; I’m bagging on both of them. It’s always easy to rip the media guys, it’s low hanging fruit. Matheson was way out of line. A true professional rises thru that, and Leon didn’t. I get he’s frustrated with his teams season. Friedman talks about it in his column today, how the vets are openly frustrated. That’s not a good sign and can run thru a dressing room turning it negative. Can be hard to climb out of that.
How could I be biased? And both sidesing a clearly one sided issue, smh. Every hockey player in history has shown open frustration during a game. Even robotic Nick Lidstrom. To look at that and draw a massive conclusion based on preconceived notions is just lazy journalism. Now good old boys are backing up their buddy and we are supposed to draw some sort of conclusions from it? When Bill Belichick shows frustration during a game and during a press conference no one bats an eye. When he calls out a dumb reporters dumb question no one bats an eye. This is an NHL media issue. Hopefully some of these dinosaurs get sent out to the pasture. Takes some notes from good reporters like Mina Kimes.
Matheson was tweeting the day before that the Oilers needed to get mad and then calls out Leon the next day for "showing frustration". fuck Matheson he's the one at fault here he's trying to goad these guys into the stories he wants to write.
Yeah, no. He actually asked him a follow up. He talked about it being a good thing in a article and asked him if he thought that sometimes it’s a good thing. the reporter looks bad here but a little context shows that it was not really calling him out. also the first question is fine. He was kind of baiting him to throw his goalie under the bus but Leon telling him just no and then telling him that he knows everything was really shitty. Maybe there is history between the two but I didn’t think it was that bad.
makes sense, but jumping to the conclusion that the reporter is the only one in the wrong here seems naive as well. calling him pissy was very unprofessional, we can all agree on that one.
Judging by Matheson's history I will never consider it naive to jump to a conclusion that he's the one in the wrong, total clown
He's been an old time hockey shill for a very long time. Defends everything Oilers management does that involves grit to the death. Pretty sure he had a week long boner over the Duncan Keith trade, Lucic signing, Rousell signing, etc...
That’s a lack of professionalism responded to by more lack of professionalism, and so on. Just ugly all around. It’s like Torts and Larry Brooks, minus the humor.
Kadri just grabbed Getzlaf's stick and hit himself in the face with it, trying to draw a high sticking call. What a shit bag
