You should push your fellow republicans to implement universal health care as a way to stop all of these stupid taxation plans before they get started.
I don't know if Universal Health Care is the answer, but could definitely push people to live healthier lives.
I'm old enough to remember when Michelle Obama was vilified by the right for promoting healthy school lunches and a bit of exercise
I don't know why it was brought up. Was it supposed to be a gotcha because I am center-right? People assume I don't like the Obama's or her plan? I'd rather have socialized child care capped at 2 kids, expanded kid programs, and free lunches than socialized health care.
Yes. Kids don't choose to have shitty parents so we at least need to give them a chance to succeed. It would also lessen the burden of struggling parents trying to find child care to go to work which should ultimately provide a path for better jobs/healthcare options later on in life.
The far right has a major American political party doing its bidding, so no they aren’t the same. Not in this country at least.
Why should your ability to pay for a medical emergency be tied to the quality of job you have - or having a job at all?
"Evolution dictates it gets weaker" is a meme for hopeful idiots. The only thing that matters to viruses is transmissibility. A virus that makes you drop dead instantly at 2 weeks but is still highly contagious up to 2 weeks has no pressure to get less deadly as it evolves. That omicron ended up on average less severe is a happy accident and not an imposed thing of nature. Covid only got more deadly and more transmissible from the first human transmission through delta. Not to chastise you, its just that people pinning their hats on this don't really speak with biology in mind
Just keep them afloat until that trickle down b.s. finally works as promised 40 years ago. It's mildly interesting that you have sympathy for victims of their "shitty parents" but no sympathy for victims of a shitty system that includes stagnant wages and costs that have risen exponentially.
Right so basically, it’s not just less deadly, it’s that less deadly has to increase the ability of transmission
Deadliness only counts if it gets in the way of replication and transmission. And most corpses are still contagious for the thing that killed them for a while
Got my kid his first shot on his 5th birthday. Such a relief and he took it like a champ. I have also been paranoid as fuck for a few days thinking his forehead was always warm. Whenever I took a quick temperature it was always normal but I was convinced he'd get sick and not be able to get it. But I watched that sweet fluid go into his arm.
okay thats valid, makes sense that transmissibility is king, with that being said omicron seems to check the highly transmissible box while being less severe.
My daughter turns 5 on a Friday in February and I'm not sure I can maker her get her a shot on her actual birthday, because that's a crappy way for a 5 year old to start their birthday, but I also don't want to wait an extra 3 days past that and get her a shot before preschool the following Monday.
we were the same way but there was just a lot more available appointments and we were already holding him out of school for the day just to have a day of mom and dad fun. So it was just aot easier and ultimately he was good since he got the free publix cookie
Oh Ill always be nervous but I was specifically nervous he'd get sick at least before getting a first shot or having to delay the shot. Just a relief he got the first one in.
Welp a guy who was vaxed + boosted and had a mAbs infusion yesterday got admitted to hospital with the vid min 2 day stay. Pretty sure he is on immunosuppressants from cancer treatment.
2 of the 3 ladies in the office of my largest client are out with covid, including the service manager. They have made sure on numerous occasions that I know that covid is “nothing” and the vaccine is for “idiots.” Yesterday I spoke with service manager at 2pm and she said she just woke up and has a 102 fever. My response: “Get well soon. There is something out there making everyone sick, wish we could figure out what it is so everyone could take the proper precautions and vaccines if available so we could get over it.”
CDC has backlog of applications from manufacturers of N95 masks https://www.rollcall.com/2022/01/19/cdc-has-backlog-of-applications-from-manufacturers-of-n95-masks/ Spoiler The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention oversees a backlog of 142 applications from manufacturers of air-filtering masks such as N95s, which the agency was criticized as being slow to recommend over cloth masks before updating its guidance Friday. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, a part of CDC, has yet to review dozens of applications from manufacturers seeking regulatory approval to sell N95s, according to its website. Some of these applications have sat at CDC for months. One application submitted to the center in April was not completed until late December. “NIOSH should make their way through the backlog and approve (or disapprove) more masks! More choice is good for consumers,” Megan Ranney, academic dean of the Brown University School of Public Health and co-founder of the Get Us PPE organization that delivers protective equipment, said in an email. The backlog contributed to masks stacking up in their warehouses even as COVID-19 cases skyrocketed, according to American-based N95 manufacturers, many of whom began making protective equipment like masks for the first time during the pandemic.... Under pressure from public health experts, CDC updated its guidance on Friday to reflect the superior protection from N95s over other types of masks and removed language suggesting a shortage of N95s. “Masks and respirators can provide varying degrees of protection, with well-fitting National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-approved respirators offering the most protection,” the website reads. By definition, a N95 must filter at least 95 percent of airborne particles. Cloth masks filter at least 20 percent of particles, while medical masks do not reliably filter out smaller airborne particles, according to the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. Even as COVID-19 caseloads shatter records, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky has added caveats when suggesting the use of highly protective N95 masks, saying they may be uncomfortable for some to wear.... The American Mask Manufacturer’s Association estimated in a letter to the Biden administration last winter that it could produce 298 million U.S.-made N95 respirators and 671,000 reusable respirators each month. The group began redoubling its efforts to get the administration's attention recently as the omicron variant spread, using Twitter and voicemails to White House COVID-19 operations director Jeffry Wexler on Dec. 22 and Dec. 29. “I said there’s over two dozen U.S. domestic manufacturers in AMMA and that we’re looking to help. We have hundreds of millions of N95s and surgical masks ready to go instantly,” said AMMA President Nicolas Smit. “Then we also have the capacity to make hundreds of millions of N95s as well, so we can help protect the American public right now and keep sending PPE to American households.” After months of lobbying, Smit met with national Covid-19 supply coordinator Tim Manning on Jan. 6. Smit said Manning promised to work on relieving the NIOSH backlog and pushing for more advertising of N95 masks on sites like Facebook. The White House didn't respond to requests for comment.
I'm a pretty level-headed person but if I'm on that flight, there's definitely a non-zero chance I'm getting arrested for losing my mind and going after that guy.
I'd love to get a tally of the number of people who got lifetime airline bans for being dumbasses over masks
Was 3000 one year ago. Guessing it’s double that now. https://www.winknews.com/2021/02/01...es-with-dozens-added-in-wake-of-capitol-riot/
These people like straight up go to prison for at least several days right? Hope every single passenger kicked that asshole's ass.
