Africa Cup of Nations starts today with The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon vs The Stallions of Burkina Faso. Ethiopia vs Cape Verde today as well. borrowing the thread icon because, well, it has an A
Sucks for Zimbabwe to give up a penalty with a handball in the 93rd minute also TIL that Zimbabwe has a player whose first name is Teenage and he plays in MLS
I was watching this morning but on mute, but the red card was incredibly lame. Both penalties were valid handballs in the box (excellent save by Mali's GK)
Ethiopia was living on the edge in the first half and went over with a couple of minutes in the second
I added the sports package to YTTV just for this tournament. They've shown an uncanny ability to show the least intriguing matches, but at least today they chose the 2nd vs 3rd match instead of Cameroon v Ethiopia I hope Gallant Knight isn't watching Traore flop around in the box at a level that #Liverpool could aspire to
Nice work from Pepe and good finish by Kessie. Ivory Coast goes up 1-0 over Algeria. Algeria has to win to stay in
This Serey Die guy who was just subbed on is the prime example of the player you’ve seen a bunch but never at the club level. Eduardo Vargas vibes (probably different for those who watch more South American football/Liga MX)
I’m sure most saw the story behind those pictures but Kei missed his PK and they lost. Didn’t want to leave the pitch and nothing but tears. Then finds out police have to set up barricades around his place in Freetown because locals wanted to march on it and burn it down. Dude is eccentric, and boisterous, and difficult to reason with but he has nothing but joy and love inside himself. I’m glad he finally got this experience, wish it ended better, but can’t wait to welcome him and Kristen and the kids back home to KC with #HeartShapedHands.
Nigeria knocked out by Tunisia. Highlights why I’m not a fan of the third place teams moving on format. Nigeria go 3-0 in the group stage and lose to a team with one win and two losses that somehow advanced.
