Daniel Craig says he goes to gay bars to avoid fights at straight venues https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...o-gay-bars-to-avoid-fights-at-straight-venues Pretty smart idea to hit up gay clubs, villains will least expect it
Agree with the consensus Spoiler I didn’t love the “new 007” angle but did like giving him a daughter and having him die at the end. The Land Cruiser scene was bad ass.
Just watched it. Definitely did not see him dying at the end coming Almost feels like they took a part 1 and part 2, cut 90mins and pasted them together
This is perhaps the most confusing element of the whole movie, which I haven't chimed in on. I do believe the producers believe they have killed off James Bond, but they used the vernacular of the original movies to represent a forthcoming movie with the same character/person. Historically speaking, it doesn't make sense. They would have had to say "007 is back" or similar to represent continuance. I would welcome thoughts or input from other bond fans on this one.
each new Bond is basically a new universe to me. James Bond may or may not die and we just hop to an alternate reality and watch what that next Bond does. it's not a code name (James Bond) passed down because Lazenby's Bond was married, Craig's Bond has a kid (and a big backstory the rest don't have), it's the same James Bond in a different timeline. he always grows up to be 007 but his missions and how he got there is always changing.
That was a really convoluted plot for a modern Bond film. Just didn’t flow at all for me. Great action as usual but my least favorite of the Craig ones on first viewing.
This is a good pov bc I cannot imagine the next Bond movie with a character saying they’re 007 but not James Bond. That essentially ends the whole series that is based on that character.
if we're going to do this again, let's clarify the criteria-- are we talking about "best" independent of the movies they're in? just demeanor and delivery and looks?
that's actually a fair take. if you look at it like one large movie as opposed to two separate ones it's much more palatable
I think its sort of tough to separate the 2 entirely as the type of bond they were was sort of dependent on the actor. So id say you can include the "type of bond" they are but exclude the overall movie quality if that makes sense
i get it, but brosnan at least had a smooth performance in what was at that time the total generic action movie that bond movies were. Moores more funny, witty Bond never really came across well to me, which im more comfortable blaming Moore for those movies being bad than Brosnan for his movies being bad if that makes sense
Royale Skyfall - just so much lazy writing and “Conveniences” No Time to die wasnt terrible just seemed uninspired Quantum Spectre
I used to have Moore ranked pretty high but then I realized that was mostly based on nostalgia of watching bond movies with my dad. Most of the Moore movies are bad in a rewatch as an adult.
I still put The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only high in my list. I think he’s great in those, the right combination of humor and serious moments.
Skyfall and Casino Royale are probably in my top 5 Bond movies overall but the rest were yeesh. Quantum incredibly forgettable, Spectre I was wondering why it got bad reviews because the opening action sequence was awesome and then the rest of the movie happened, No Time to Die I just didn't feel like I needed to see Bond as a father and care about things, I don't need a family narrative in a Bond film, plus though I think Rami Malek is talented but that was not a great showing but they also bungled Christoph Waltz as a villain and that seemed like an absolute layup
True. For as great as Javier was in Skyfall, the low usage of Waltz was travesty. Skyfall and Royale (more so) are the only Craig Bonds I’d rewatch.
No time to die was good. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Especially you Iron Mickey Spectre was my least favorite honestly of the Craig films. I’d watch QS again before that. Absolutely wasted Waltz which is probably what pisses me off the most about that movie
I actually loved the ending to this. For me it solidifies that it’s not just the same guy, but a collection of “brave” secret agents. As for Craig’s I’d go Royale Skyfall No time to die Quantum Spectre - I fell asleep during spectre it was so bad. top 5 bond though. 1. you only live twice 2. Golden eye 3. Royale 4. Goldfinger 5. Tomorrow never dies top worst is easily the world is not enough.
