Yeah with Serena and Osaka not playing as much, it doesn't shock me. BUT KENIN, the drop off on her game is insane
I knew Serena was low and getting lower, but 245 was a little jarring, to me at least. I mean, that's 15 spots lower than Emma Navarro who is still a junior at UVA.
Kenin was another one who was injured. Just saying the women's side is so deep, so many points missed when you just don't play.
Yeah and that ranking, I think we won't see Serena win another Major. She going to have some brutal draws
She hasn’t recovered from whatever slam the nerves got her. Who did she lose to In the semis that year ?
How did Fritz bagel RBA in the first and now RBA is up 3-0 in the second? Obligatory - “what, is this the WTA?!!!”
Man - that sucks. What appeared to be a special needs kid just got kicked out of the match bc he was clapping loudly at inopportune times and fucked up RBA. It was very distracting. Just a shitty situation all around. Feel bad for his guardian.
Nah, I don't see it. Might get past Kanepi in R16 but I think Swiatek would be too consistent for her in the quarters. Just too many good players left in the draw for me.
Hopefully he has some load management this season. He’s too talented to waste his time and energy playing doubles in 250s.
Go time for Badosa-Keys. Women's OOP is stacked tonight. This match, Vika-Krej, Pegula-Sakkari, Barty-Anisimova.
American women now 2-0 on the night as Pegula beats Sakkari 7-6 (0), 6-3. All eyes on Anisimova now against Barty early tomorrow morning.
Just can't take Sakkari seriously as a Top 5 player - that was just a weak performance against Pegula. There's something seriously wrong with the WTA ranking system - regardless of time taken off last year, it's absurd that Osaka and Kenin are well outside the top 50. Slam results need to count for a LOT more.
Wow. Going to be a lot of happy posters on this thread with that result. And here I was thinking Zverev was a huge chance to win the title.
Damn. Barty just too friggin' good. Really pleased for how Amanda's bounced back after a couple of awful years - great signs for the future though.
