i never know where to post this stuff as it's like the intersection of markets/investing and politics BUT it's truly wild how far these discussions have moved in a positive and accurate direction, this shits in bloomberg
lol my “brokerage” account is just an account I opened with TDA a few years ago that I’d mess with here and there. Basically I would buy some stuff randomly, once it got to a certain price I’d sell it and run, for better or worse. More like gambling than anything. Just happened to end up where all I had was RIVN around the same time the market started sliding so I haven’t got into anything else. And now RIVN is so bad I’m riding it to the bottom. My thought on buying it was really just a gamble that in a decade it’d be as inflated as Tesla haha
Bought the dip. 1 share of VTI earlier today in my Roth at $215.78 and it's already up to $220. Winning!
Feeling better now about funding my HSA on Friday, plus some of my Roth. And not selling anything today. Can't wait to watch it happen again tomorrow.
I was in law school and they fired a fuckton of lawyers nation wide on one day that fall. Had some time to weather it but I knew a lot of dudes who worked for barely any money for a while because of the ramifications of the market tanking for years to come. I think if you graduated within 2-3 years (can’t recall exactly) of 2008 your lifetime earning potential was substantially impacted because of more senior people taking entry level jobs for lower wages. Good buddy got offered a job billing 2100 hours with a 32,500/35k salary at graduation. It was a blood bath.
