If we end up hiring the GM first (seems likely) does this change the HC search in any way.. curious if each GM has a main HC target and those align with who’s been given a second interview for the HC gig.
I saw another post that Poles is also the favorite in Minnesota and he’s going to have his pick of the two jobs.
Still feels like Ted and George setting the menu for the GM to ultimately order from. I guess they are figuring they want to string along the coaching candidates so they don't lose them to other teams, but that's why Pace should have been fired last year if they were going to do this. As soon as all was given up wrt Mitch it made no sense to have both dead men walking going into 2021.
Much prefer Quinn to Caldwell and if he has a great staff in place that is promising. Got to nail the OC if he's the hire.
I don’t get how people want an offensive coach to work with Fields but also want a DC over an offensive guy
It may be true. But they have been first and accurate on both searches so far. They must have someone close in that crew.
If I have my choice of coaches it would be Daboll or Leftwich. But clearly neither are going to get this job. So if I got to choose from a average offensive coach or an elite defensive coach i'll roll the dice on the DC.
If we hire a HC without so much as a report that we contacted Payton to see if he was interested... Bills 4 Lyfe
I like the Poles hire, he predates Reid and has been promoted multiple times within the organization, seems like a really smart guy. We'd also be idiots not to at least call Payton.
Parkins/Spiegel are saying Poles has complete autonomy in the coaching hire. I’m sure they’re leaking that but who knows if it’s really happening.
I will feel much better if we see more candidates come in for interviews outside of Georges hand picked trio.
How embarrassing is it that George went to pick him up at O’hare in his Accord from his commercial flight? 4 billion dollar franchise can’t afford a flight and car service for the new leader of their operation.
I have no problem with this. I actually think it’s cool that the owner of the franchise picks up his top choice GM.
I haven’t listened but DBB guy says that 23 will be Phillips last year as he sees the deal to Arlington through and President is the role Omar Khan interviewed for NOT the GM role. That would be exciting.
Quinn + Kafka is fine with me. People might freak out at us trying to be the chiefs once again. really looking forward to seeing what Ryan feels about this roster, how active he is in the trade market and if he’s a guy who banks on advanced analytics. Also will he trade down in the draft? We sure as hell need draft capital.
