Nice. Really interested in the mpg. I heard it's pretty quick.

Been leaning towards the F150 hybrids. My work schedule is nuts so I want the fold flat seat. But this Tundra is my back up option.

Not nearly as exciting as RJF-GUMP s new purchase, but I bought a cheap af 2010 Colorado yesterday to work out of. Try and keep some miles off my F150. Feel like old man status is achieved with A. Owning 2 trucks and B. Already thinking about building some tool organization in the extended cab section.

I'm guessing this is standard for all new trucks and Toyotas but is new to me: From your phone via the Toyota app you can turn the truck on, lock or unlock the doors, and it tells you how much gas you have an how many miles until empty. Wish you could change the temp inside from the app.

I haven't re-subed the Toyota Connect for my Tacoma but it was nice while I had it free for the first year.

Anyone with a newer Toyota notice the USB port for the Android Auto/Car Play stop working in cold weather?

Once you have it; it’s tough to go back to not having it.

I traveled for work a bunch a few years ago and would end up renting cars with it. Then would come home to a truck that just had the Aux port. I went a couple months debating upgrading the truck simply for CarPlay. Ended up buying an after market stereo which had CarPlay and changed it out. Then did the same thing for my dad in his old truck.

So much better than the old GPS stuff that came with vehicles.

Two things: the Powerboost (hybrid) really eats into payload. Something to consider if you’re towing a lot or constantly driving around with a full bed or passengers.

Also, it may be different for 2022, but the max recline seats are (inexplicably) only available in the upper trims (KR, Platinum, Limited). Not exactly the segment you’d expect to be taking a nap at the job site.

Super nice truck. I was really considering trading in my '17 Tundra for a new one, but I've spent so much time and money making mods to mine, that I decided against it. Next on my list is to upgrade my head unit because the stock infotainment in this thing is garbage. Jealous of the car play and shit in yours.

It’s great until it starts glitching. It’s a pretty common issue where it constantly signs you out and then doesn’t not recognize your login or Face ID. I deleted it a few months ago because of that. The reviews show they really need to work on the software issues but it’s Toyota so they don’t really prioritize that.

Also it’s stupid that the truck immediately turns off when you open the door.

It's to prevent theft. Seems like they could incorporate a sensor in the key fob or recognize the phone that turns it on though.

    1. Remote start vehicle from my cozy living room and commence defrosting and interior heating.
    2. Open vehicle door five minutes later to enter, vehicle/engine shuts off.
    3. Press start button to start engine again.
This is truly some first-world problems shit, but I am just not aware of it on other cars.

When I remote start the truck and then walk up to it and open the door it automatically turns off. "This happens to ensure the safety of the driver and anyone around the vehicle. When the system detects an attempt to enter or move the vehicle, it turns off." It would be nice if it would stay on especially in this cold weather. This is the best explanation I've seen for why they do it "Its to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. Due to the nature of the Toyota/Lexus Push To Start once the vehicle has been started it will run until the button is pressed to turn it off or it runs out of gas. So what is to prevent someone from breaking in and staling the car once you have remote started it?"

Also I wish mine had automatic running boards . It's a pretty tall truck. My wife and my MIL were complaining that they were having a hard time getting up into the truck. Honestly at 6'0 it's a bit of a pain in the ass for me. I'm trying to get the guy that sold it to me from the toyota dealership to look into the cost of adding them. I'm guessing like $1500-2k

See my wifes mazda will continue to run but if it doesn’t detect the key fob is near it wont let you put it in gear. Pushing the start button just says “key fob not detected” and wont let you proceed. You'd think they’d have something similar.

That’s how the Ford system works as well. Luckily with Forscan, you can even turn off the horn honking when opening a door when the engine is running as well.

Toyotas do this unfortunately. Only solution I've ever found is to have an aftermarket remote start and/or security system installed that you can actually control or set preferences on. That said, after years of dealing with it on my SUV, it doesn't really bother me any more. When it's cold out, I remote start and let it run for a few minutes, go to get in it, it turns off, and then I just restart it and am good to go within a few seconds. Thay additional crank of the ignition hopefully isn't problematic but I guess we'll see.

I just wish I could lock the vehicle while it's still running as my dog is often riding in the backseat and I'd like to be able to lock her inside with the AC going when I run into a gas station or something during the summer months. My Toyota won't let me do that though. Maybe new ones will?

I believe mine will let me lock it remotely after it is turned on. Yah and I think the workaround you posted above is the best solution. Just have to remember to remote start it like 5 minutes before you want to get in. That way it will get nice and toasty first.

Also I don't think there is a way to turn the temp up or down remotely. So if you for whatever reason have your vehicle on 60 degrees and it gets really cold and you remote start it to warm it up, it's going to be blowing 60 degrees still. You should be able to change the temp.

Some of the "safety features" like that can be a bit inconvenient but their vehicles seem to be among the best engineered on the roads these days so it's a worthwhile trade-off in my opinion.

I drove an F-150 from 2005-2008. Then another one from 2008-2019. I loved both trucks but they just don't seem to be what they once were so I decided my next vehicle would be something I should be able to drive for a long, long time so long as I keep up with the recommended maintenance schedule. I drove a few different Land Cruisers (79 series) when I lived in Australia and fell in love with them. There's a reason Toyota's trucks and SUVs are so heavily relied upon in some of the toughest industries facing the toughest terrain on the planet. Once my F150's transmission died for the third time at 127,000 miles, I bought a gently used 200 series Land Cruiser and have loved it every day since. Gas mileage still sucks but it's still better than it was in my truck.

Don't know that I have any on my phone currently but will try to get one later. Nothing done to it currently as it's my daily driver for the foreseeable future but my goal is to keep it around forever and eventually turn it into an overlanding vehicle when I get another car (and have the sort of disposable income required to take on a project like that).

This is what it looks like currently though with less aggressive tires.

How's the space in the backseat? Really like them but have 2 carseats and worried about fit. I will rarely have both kids in the car but don't want it to be hell for the whole fam to go somewhere if needed.

Decent space in the back, but no kids (yet) so I can’t give an official determination. One seat should be doable but two may be tough depending on how far back the driver seat needs to be.

Test drove one yesterday. Car seats would be doable but just didn’t love it overall for the price. Dealer site said msrp, when I get there it had a +$7,500 “market adjustment”. They brought it down to 2 but still felt too high.

Placed an order for a 2022 Lariat SuperCrew FX4 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and sport and tow packages. Got in on Tuesday, the last day before a price increase, and am getting the truck for just under invoice. Downside is I’ll likely be waiting 3-6 (or more?) months for it to be delivered. Replacing a ‘13 XLT 4x2 with power windows and doors, cruise control and that’s about it. Pretty excited about this upgrade.

It's actually the "dark" color on the upgraded 20" wheels with the sport package, not the black appearance package. But I preferred the dark matte to the gloss black on the BAP wheels and trim. All the other trim and badging that would otherwise be chrome is that "dark" color.
