the greatest version of that type of taco place is in corvallis, TacoVino miss living there for like 3 restaurants and that's one of them
Taco Lu here is really good. They do a steak taco with sliced red grapes and crumbled blue cheese that will make you never want to eat steak without red grapes again.
I’m not to be trusted when it comes to food because my palate is apparently garbage but I really enjoy Taco Billy.
This trip was kinda of last second so there weren’t a lot of reservations left. Going to Rosa Bees, Rhubarb and Strada for dinners. Have a reservation for lunch at Sierra Nevada one day and we are walking distance to south slope so we will hit the good breweries.
Drunk at yacht club, asked waitress where we can eat late night. She said nowhere unless we want to Uber to Waffle House. Of course will Uber to Waffle House.
Breaking ground on my hostel if you’re interested in keeping up, give me a follow. TMB reunion 2k23 Lazytigerhostel.com
Nice. This is your spot? Don't love the "lazy tiger" name but good to know it refers to an Auburn Tiger. There's what, one hostel already in Asheville?
I predict this will be very successful. I'm picturing hikers as a big audience. I know I've gone up there and stayed in Downtown Inn and Suites as a jump off point for hiking early the next morning. But a hostel would be even cheaper and cooler. I go up there a lot for concerts too. Can't tell where you're located but looks like out of downtown a little bit
Yea opened during COVID. I’m biased cause he’s a friend but it’s awesome. Coffee shop open to the public too
Where is it going to be? Kinda wish that I had known about this earlier. You might have had a partner.
Thanks. I think so too. I’m right off 26 at exit 23. 7-8 minutes from downtown and will tie in closely to the greenway and breweries in Woodfin. there won’t be a shortage of potential customers. My challenge will be letting them know I’m an option and then executing so I’m better than the Downtown Inn or a 2nd bedroom in someone’s home on AirBnB
Thanks, my friend who is far more talented than I put it together when the dream first started a few years ago
Yep, I’m your target audience then bc those are the two places I always stay. I assume you’ll have private rooms in addition to dorm type rooms? What is bathroom situation? These are the questions Mrs TC will want to know, haha
Congrats on getting something through approval up here. Its a pain in the dick sometimes, got 2 things approved in October and still getting push back like they werent. I live around the corner on strafford.
congratulations! that's really exciting, hope to be a patron some time soon. maybe next WSOP Circuit at Harrah's if you're up by then (April i think) ...
Just for the record Asheville bros, I’m involved in a restaurant downtown. Mostly a breakfast joint but I’ll throw a few biscuits your way any time.
yea I’ll have options Shared rooms with shared bathroom Private room with shared bathroom Private room with private bathroom It actually ended up not being as bad as I thought. I got super lucky with my lot as it’s just over the line into Woodfin so zoning was so much easier. I’d be screwed with Asheville zoning. I’ll give ya a tour once there’s something to tour thanks! I have no building so April may be ambitious. But when I open, the TMB discounts will be copious
Room 15 you're the guy that already has a sandwich shop right? Auburn is taking over small business it seems
thread has me missing AVL, been a while. i was thinking about trying to rent out my house in Charlotte and change up the location, is the rental market out there as crazy as CLT?
Room 15 you should have reached out to get plans done in exchange for some free nights and/or sexual favors
Hope to meet some of you Auburn folks down on the Plains for the Penn State game. Got to hang with Corky Bucek in State College last Fall.
Ugh want to make it back up there. Wife and I are looking at 2nd homes and it's basically between Asheville and Orange Beach. We'd both love Asheville but Orange Beach would give us the option to spend a month during rhe summer back home close to family in Mobile so it makes it tough. How do rentals do up there? We'd rent it out when not there.
We have a second home about an hour out of Asheville and it absolutely cranks on airbnb. Just make sure you have a solid property manager lined up.
what city if you don't mind me asking? back when i was out there more i was interested in Waynesville but been a while since i've been active. can't imagine if it's a solid spot there'd be too much trouble getting rented, region is expanding like crazy (similar to most of the state) ...
Like up in the mountains? We're open to anything. If we go that route, I may reach out about the property manager.
Yea we're in the mountains. About 15 minutes outside of Bryson City out towards Fontana. We use it pretty often since my wife and I both work remotely. We still had positive cash flow renting it out. Approx 35% occupancy, so rented most weekends when we're not around. We bought during covid lockdown when prices went down a bit. We've been looking for another one but its pretty bonkers right now. Deals still come up they just sell quickly. We absolutely love the area. I could see us retiring up there when the kids go off to college.
Is there anything unique to the area that attracts people for rentals? Never been myself so not overly familiar with area.
