Well that certainly stings. But you can’t celebrate pulling a coach because it brought him home and then get mad when one of your coaches leave to go home.
Shouldn’t have hired him knowing he was a flight risk. It was well documented when Richt was trying to get him to come that his wife didn’t like Miami. This is a clinic in poor resource management
I think y’all should brace yourselves for a good staff but not anything crazy. And it has nothing to do with money
My bad. Bacon egg and cheese scallion pancakes, mochi donuts, radish cakes. Happy lunar new year everyone.
I unno, a power run offense behind a 5’9” 160 lb back with terrible game and timeout management sounds pretty fun in theory.
Ya'll must be celebrating like you won the lottery out there. Lanning is a gigantic upgrade given his tremendous track record and FSU's OC was a huge coup as well given how well that offense has hummed along the past two years.
Miami miffed here people. If the Lanning hire works out at all we can expect Florida to poach him when Napier fails and then send another Florida progrum into coaching purgatory like we did with Taggart and now Mario.
ngl at first I thought Miami fans were being cunty about all this but now that its Feb, Mario looks like he has no idea what he's doing. People not wanting to coach for him? Any specifics on why he's struggling like this?
Who knows but I want a new coach and he hasn’t even coached a game yet. Would have kept Manny another year and hired a real staff around him. Probably would be seeing better results
Don’t ever lump in the town shithead with the rest of us He will never speak for the other posters on this board
He seems more in-line with the majority on the Canes 247 board. So what happened with Mario down the stretch here? He play himself waiting too long for coaches in the NFL and on playoff teams? I'm honestly asking.
Any idea when Mario is going to hire an OC or DC? Is he just whiffing or waiting on something? I checked the other day and was pretty shocked to realize dude hasn't hired guys for either position.
think some of it may be the potential coordinators not being cool with being able to bring “their” guys as position coaches since we already have smith, mirabal, and joe (and mcclendon and trob before they bailed)? idk just spitballing here
Lol you cannot think the majority of UM fans think like Hoosier, the dude does nothing but bitch on literally every single team board he touches
I apologize if I implied that but I didn't remember him being a shithead. I think I spent ~2 minutes clicking around the Cane board and it seems like Hoosier has purchased quite a few accounts. idk how he keeps up with all those email addresses.
What was with they huge thread on 247 saying Mario doesn’t do well with black coaches and DVD and smith also want out? Seems like bullshit
Hoosier is a whack job. Spends half his time on CIS yelling at everyone who says the sky is falling while then posting the sky is falling while over here he just randomly melts down and everyone just ignores him. All we know for sure is that for a while Candle said he was going to take the job as OC but then it fell apart when he couldn't find homes for his Toledo offensive guys either here or elsewhere. Briles was interviewed but no job offer over the simplicity of OL play in his scheme. I guess you can call that Mario meddling but the guy is an OL coach by trade and wants his dudes taught a certain way. Overall so far the rational fans are very happy with the recruiting results considering the absolute mess the last staff left us in with the big names and like the announced hires other than questioning the recruiting ability of the DL coach. Its a bummer you guys came and poached BMac and Bama poached TRob which has complicated things I guess. The behind the scenes stuff is what will matter the most anyway. Its amazing how far behind UM was in off field support staff/nutrition/player development/recruiting dept. There have been a lot of hires made to boost that including poaching on field coaches from other schools who are now analysts. I'll wait to freak out over the OC/DC once the actual names are announced but honestly don't think it will matter too much in the first year or two because outside of the QB/WR/S rooms the entire roster needs a rebuild to get to where UM can actually compete with the big boys. Especially the front 7 on defense. The ACC is terrible and we have a legit QB but this defensive front is woof.
People don’t like working for him. This was a known thing when at Oregon. He’s a micromanager/way too intense. Not a bad dude or anything, just hard to work with.
Have heard dvd wants to come to Georgia but I don't think there's a spot unless we do some shuffling.
Music to our ears. Mario isn't giving him the CB job unless we miss on a bunch of guys so I'm sure he's looking for another spot if he is smart.
Also if DVD can't get his own dude from Pace here (which it sounds like b/c word is Shemar just put on a master class in using UGA/Canes to load up the bags from Jimbo) then buddy can go kick rocks anyway
Man you really believe the Luke like race baiters? I’m a black man and I can’t stand Luke or the black dudes that try and act like every Cuban or white person in SFL hates black peoples yet they all won’t say shit if Bama loses a black coach or drops a black kid. HS coaches down here love Mario and the majority of them are black. Cool TRob left for Bama it’s a better job. BMac left to go home it’s a better job and it’s home. When guys leave to take the Utah St job then I’ll worry about Mario being to hard to work for. Also DVD played this same hand with Manny talking about leaving to get an on field job hopefully Mario is smarter than that and let’s him leave if he wants to.
While I do believe Mario is the best person for the job, I will say it is disappointing there are only 3 total coaches at this stage of the game. I commend him for grinding through recruiting but there’s no way you can convince me he can’t recruit AND hire the *right/best* coaches. Logic would say having more coaches could only help in recruiting. Also give me Coley over Ponce. The WR was open on the RB Pass in the blizzard bowl game - it was a good call.
Mario is combining being a bit too picky and a bit too difficult. Not much more to the story. Should be figured out shortly.
Pretty much this. He’s made great hires in the past but the difficult part is probably catching up to him. Lest we forget what kind of offensive scheme he prefers.
