I hate going to Houston (I know alot of cities have them but they seem highest there) because of those. Also, just found out one of my new job territories is DFW so I’m going to be there at least once a month going forward.
The fucking flyovers in Austin are bigger than almost all the major interchanges in the Atlanta area outside of Spaghetti Junction. It's sad and impressive how many there are.
Texans love highway interchanges that are 500 feet tall. It’s their second favorite thing behind chain steakhouses
It's like Texas defaults to a 3rd world apocalyptic hellscape the instant it stops being 95 and sunny
Not in DFW We made it through a big ice storm without any major traffic issues or incidents. I think we are finally learning how to do winter here in North Texas!
I always assumed chain Tex mex was the first love. I’m pretty sure they don’t have a Chuy’s that isn’t next to a Pappasitos or Lupe Tortilla
The fuck is wrong with Chuy's? That was the nice thing about living in Texas, the Tex-Mex was always pretty good.
I didn’t say anything was wrong with it. It just amuses me they always put 2 Tex mex places next to each other like they are cvs and Walgreens
At least two days. Something went wrong at the treatment plant. No one told me and I chugged water last night and this am cause of being drunk/hungover so I’ll likely die
Not to go all hipster here but regardless of city there are usually better mom and pop options than chains anyway. There’s a Chuys a few hundred yards from my house (but not Pappasitos or Lupe Gaknight ) but there are also several small places within 2-3 miles that serve better food
wife worked at the one on 183 for a long time. they got bought a few years back and have slowly scaled back menu and kind of turned it into a tex mex version of chilis. will still gladly smother anything in boom boom though
Still have yet to meet a white Texan capable of suggesting anything but chain restaurants it’s very sad
Yeah I walked to a place for Tex mex that was local from my hotel. I try not to eat at chains when traveling
I’d bristle at the idea of being a Texan but I’ve lived here longer than I did in Louisiana at this point so yippee ki yay motherfucker I guess
I think Texas is an interesting state outside of the ghoulish politicians who run it. Could prob say that about most states
Okay I can't speak to Chuy's quality recently and yes you could go to any random Tex-Mex place in Austin and get as good quality. There's good places in Atlanta but you have to search more, and no breakfast tacos sadly.
who gives a fuck how many people I know? I make it a point to ask every person I end up a conversation with whether it’s people at the gym, people I drink with or even an Uber driver not my fault there’s a lot of Texans who love mid food edit: just tired of people telling me to go to Torchy’s when it’s not very good and it’s always suggested to me
Lupe Tortilla has the best chain fajitas Pappasitos got so overrated it is now underrated Chuys has always been kinda meh to me
