next week is tricky UL on 3 days rest then at Clemson- if they can somehow win both then they should be entering safe territory
Another really positive development is Paul Atkinson Jr. asserting himself in the paint recently. We desperately need him to be a force inside that takes pressure off some of the guards. Him grabbing boards and putting in some points at close range make the team more dynamic. As Wesley continues to emerge from his slump, this is a development we really need to hold.
Just don’t think he’s that good. His offenses at Michigan weren’t great until this last year when they started running the ball like Harbaugh did at Stanford. I’m not sure how much if that was due to Gattis and how much was due to Harbaugh, but either way I don’t think that kind of offense is a good fit for you guys. He’s a really good recruiter though.
One of their 247 guys had smoke. I don't recall the reporter, but I saw direct quotes. Miami and Rees had legit conversations and large money was discussed. Not sure how close it got, though.
Some maybe, Moore’s biggest connection with Michigan is Harbaugh and Weiss our QB coach. Gattis was involved very little in his recruitment. It could actually help because Weiss might be the one who takes over as OC.
Yeah, should be interesting. I will say for the first time there was chatter on both sides this week in favor of ND, and that was before this news. It's definitely a close one and the biggest ND/UM recruiting battle in years.
Yeah, Harbaugh’s flirting with the NFL definitely had an impact on his recruitment. Maybe he can qualm those concerns by saying he realized that Michigan is where he’s supposed to be but I can’t help but think it’s going to be in the back of this kids head as he’s making his decision,
I'm not sure it's that simple. I don't think he was a lock before. It's always been close, but yeah, there's been a lot of fear by ND fans. That fear is turning a bit with a couple non-ND reporters acknowledging ND seems to lead at this point.
Loy with the CB for Charles Jagusah and Preston Zinter today Jagusah would be massive. Him, Sullivan Absher, and Monroe Freeling would be one hell of an OL class
Yeah, if CMF is taking him as a LB, people may want to hold off on pissing their pants over ratings. Damn, the kid's huge, too. He dwarfs CMF and other coaches in the pictures on his profile.
I’d rather have Picciotti over Zinter at LB Zinter could be a damn good H-back/Tommy Tremble type player imo
Jagusah, Absher, and Bisontis would be a hell of an OL class- they need to go big game hunting they are in on like every elite OL in the North and Northeast
I don’t think you say no to any of these guys on the board Proctor Okunlola Jagusah Absher Bisontis Freeling Take the first 4 out of these 6 and call it a day
I think we’ll probably see some OL transfer within the next year so this OL class may be bigger than anticipated.
Crazy thing is this kid is a take 9/10 years but he's not gonna make the cut this year and probably ends up at Ohio State because of it https://247sports.com/player/trevor-lauck-46112913/
He'd be a monster blocking on the edge with a head of steam. A big mobile H Back with the mentality of a LB is a site to behold.
I have to think that even if his kids don't end up at ND, the fact that they went to IU with him means that proximity and lifestyle are important and it makes sense that he isn't going to NYC to spend 15 hours a day at an NFL facility.
We were doing this in 2020 and then covid hit and none of those big OL cruits ever got to visit and they stayed with big local school U- that sucked but we still got Alt and Fisher In 2021 ND got our OL targets to visit and we cleaned up on the OL again, I think ND will clean up again this year especially since it sounds like our NFL OL freaks are going to return in the spring to help Harry court these kids.
Also if he really wants to be a HC, ND is a place that looks like a damn good path right now Our last 3 DCs are now P5 head coaches, and we just had two position coaches named P5 OCs
I hate not locking down the Indy Catholic Schools when they have a high end talent like a Lauck. Pete Werner still haunts me- fucking Kelly
kelly’s recruiting strategy is probably a little like mine when looking at conventions for work. « hey that looks interesting, let me see where it is. Houston, texas……hey look at that one in Paris, that one definitely looks better now that I think about it »
JR film isn't impressive, hard for me to look at the players on the board in Feb and think yea lets go ahead and take another linebacker who lacks athleticism. But lets buckle up for 4 more years of Bertrand and Kizer type linebackers.
Reading a lot into a tweet but his wife’s tweet about 2 Super Bowls has me thinking he expected some forward Momentum and never got it. Seems like he may think the nfl is a dead end for a black coach. Who could blame him.
He absolutely came back to IU with the idea that it would be a quicker move up to a HC position. He’s, unfortunately, not wrong
your post made it seem as if though you don’t trust the staffs evaluations on a position they’ve proven they’re adept at recruiting
If we don’t start hitting recruits with “this is where you’re wanted” messaging we are doing it wrong.
