also use mx master 3 on mac. it's fantastic. using the thumb click for gesture control is a game changer.
The Logitech MX Keys keyboard is pretty nice too. Feels like something that was made by Apple, but better.
The app-specific gestures are amazing. Also I can’t say this definitively, but I’m pretty sure this mouse somehow contributed to the Bengals first playoff win in 30+ years.
afb any idea how much it would cost to repair this at an Apple Store? Early 2015 13” Retina display. Apple approved store quoted me $700 but I’m not sure if an actual Apple store would be any cheaper
it's gonna be in that same range bc it's accidental damage/cracked screen tier so it'd be 650-900 (I think the upper end is the 15" retina) at worst, you can chat/call in and they can give you the quote estimate and just not go through with the repair if it's more
I love the new MBP. Fast and snappy as hell. It's wild that I can use a MBP for 6+ years and it still works damn near flawlessly. I don't think I really needed to move away from the 2015, but I am glad I did. Can't even imagine how many fucking Dells I would have bought during that same time period had I never made the switch from Windows.
This is what the anti-apple crowd that I know can’t wrap their brains around. Hell, my 2010 MBP still kind of works. A 12-year old dell wouldn’t do a fucking thing.
I still use my 2011 MBP for some things. It’s still perfectly fine for 90% of what most people use a laptop for.
I'm still rocking my MBP from my freshman year of college, so a 2008/2009 product. Still does everything I need to do and works great but I've run out of memory and the OS is so old most external HDs don't recognize it so I will have to replace it sometime soon. I will pay 50% more for a computer every time if it means I get triple the years out of it than a crappy windows product.
my 2012 mpb still runs like a champ. Ive had to replace the sata cable a couple of times and changed out the hard drive a few years back, but other than that it still works like new. (fully expect it to blow up in the next day because of my smug post)
I didn't believe it until I got an MBP and that fucker lasted 7 years, I believe. I could have made it go even longer if I had just replaced the battery, but it wasn't going to get anymore OS updates so I just decided to go ahead and get a new machine.
This is not entirely true, processors were essentially stagnant for the better part of a decade, so even on the windows side of things a high end processor from a decade ago with an ssd is still going to feel fairly responsive. That lack of innovation is why Apple left Intel. The bigger problem is most of the big pc companies load their computers up with garbage that slows them down, while Apple doesn’t. That said things are finally starting to pick up on the tech side again and newer tech will absolutely feel more responsive
I have had two laptops in my life. Both Dell first one lasted 8 years and was what I got for college. My current laptop is 10 years old. Still humming.
any rumors out there for when the next versions of the macbook airs will be launched? i'm a heavy laptop user but outside of one game + VLC/plex, i don't really do anything on my personal laptop beyond internet. i don't think i need a MBP and the price tag on the latest ones is >$2.5k when i start adding memory, etc. unfortunately, my '17 mbp is starting to fail. i already replaced the battery/keyboard unit through apple but the laptop heats up and has started destroying the screen.
The little neighbor kid was over playing with my daughter this afternoon and apparently has an Apple Watch with cellular so her mom can keep track of her/call her and tell her to come home. How cheap would it be for me to do that with my kid?
$10/mo with Verizon plus cost of watch is what I’ve found. I have trouble believing my neighbor would pay that for their kid tbh, so figured there was a promo or a cheaper option somewhere.
Work just ordered me a new MBP with an M1 Pro, so I selfishly hope the M2 won’t be released on March 8
I wanted a leather sleeve for my new Macbook and realized that Apple doesn't sell them for the 2021 version (plus the previous ones were nearly $200). I found one on Etsy with positive reviews but was hesitant because it's coming from Indonesia. Took almost three weeks to get here but I would highly recommend if anyone's looking for something similar. https://www.etsy.com/listing/870159...f=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&pro=1
Decided to finally look at the new watches after initially having no interest (have a series 5 now). Very weird not to have the usual base colors. I’ve always gotten space gray but if I do decide to upgrade I may go red. Not sure.
I’ve got an iPhone and everything. Just wanted to weigh in and say a working laptop from 2010 is not that crazy
I went from a 4 to an SE + cellular today. They have me like 130 on trade in which I thought was pretty good.
Yeah they’re offering $130 for my 4 which is part of the reason I’m considering upgrading. I just don’t love the colors on the 7. I guess “midnight” is sorta like space gray but looks more like a navy blue.
The guy at the store told me there wasn’t much of a reason to go 7 over SE. SE has the standard colors.
If you don’t mind preowned, great deals after a new watch is introduced. I got a 6 stainless with stainless band for half off new.
Something different. If I hate it I'll just sell it and get a new one later this year or early 2023. Spoiler
