I agree about Lightning Bolt, but not Backspacer. That album is great to me. "Speed of Sound" is one of my favorite PJ songs
Amongst the Waves Unthought Known Force of Nature Speed of Sound Top tier of Backspacer IMO. I like it all the way through though
? The "nothing left, nothing left" part is my favorite but I think "see the path cut by the moon, for you to walk on" is a pretty sweet lyric
my 10 hierarchy group a- release, porch, alive, garden, black group b- evenflow, once, jeremy, deep, why go, oceans not a fan of the slow porch intro they do now. i wish alive, ef, and porch would take a few breaks but understand why they won't. brother would have been a great addition to the album. wash is a great show opener.
Also to add, the B-sides/unreleased(until Lost Dogs) 10 songs would make a killer album on their own. Likely my 3rd favorite album behind 10/VS
Agreed, it's full of gold. So glad they collected that and put it out as one album. I remember the days of people collecting the CD singles
When it came out I listened to the shit out of it. A couple misses, but really like most of it. I’ve randomly been listening to a lot of Backspacer lately. Usually go through phases of listening exclusively to one album for like a month.
Ed’s interview with Howard Stern is fantastic. 3 hours. He actually opens up about stuff. You can hear him struggling to talk about things and Stern doesn’t let him get away with his normal interview non-answers.
I have Sirius XM so listened through the app. Might be on YouTube now. It’s really good Ed talks about Cornell’s suicide and his brother dying. You could tell he wanted to cry. Mentioned how he was angry at Cornell for awhile and still hasn’t dealt with it.
If you have a Ten Club membership looks like every concert from 2000-2013 was released through the Deep project. All of them showing up on Spotify once you log in with your ten club info.
Been a while since I listened to some of the classic early 2000s shows: Katowice and Vegas in 2000 and acoustic Mansfield set and College Station 2003. Brought back a lot of memories.
2006 was when, in my opinion, the setlists start getting a lot more diverse and they started playing rarely played songs more often. I might be wrong on that but I recall seeing the 2006 bootlegs and thinking whoa that set is amazing a lot more often.
Grand Rapids is a must listen. Also, there are a lot of good full show videos of this tour. The Canadian 05 tour is pretty good too.
Eddie has a new solo album coming out next month. This is the first single; not bad. Glad to hear it’s more than just ukuleles Apparently the album has guest spots by Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Ringo Starr
Has there been an update on the US tour? They said in November they would release dates in early 2022. Tour is supposed to be in May. Odd that in February they still haven't announced dates so people can make plans. I can't find any update on it since November.
I've seen a bunch of stuff about Eddie playing little venues solo. Can't recall seeing anything about PJ tour
I've been Ed's stuff but he isn't coming anywhere close to me. My 9 year old is dying to go to a Pearl Jam concert. Really want to get him to one this year.
When I was a kid and my mom used to take me to school, we were talking about the part of the car that's like the flat surface under the back glass. She was saying how there was no name for it, and I named it the Vedder. Still call it that
He listened to a lot of pop stuff until he started learning to play guitar. He's working on Sad by Pearl Jam and Sultans of Swing currently and I get a lot of "Dad can we please just listen to some rock n roll and not your podcasts?" I think I succeeded.
And still lists the postponed dates as "coming soon." There is a gap in March, April and May they could fit the 16 postponed shows, but it's probably hard to schedule right now.
I'm jealous I never played at an early age. He has so much dexterity and can pick like crazy. Kids that start at his age will be able to shred. He seems to be really into it now and he practices on his own without me telling him to and goes to lessons once a week. He asked if he could take his guitar to school so he can play in the lunchroom so at least he's confident with it.
Stevie Ray Vaughan never put his down. Took it in the shitter with him. Granted we don't want Lawnole Jr to end up on drugs and whatnot, but let him play play play as much as he can
He also loves video games and sports so he's splitting time equally to be a more well balanced human. I'll settle for play well enough to pick up chicks when he's older.
Listening to the Eddie Vedder and the Earthlings live concert in NYC debut and it’s pretty solid. If you have Sirius you can search the app for it.
I know I'm a cranky old man and it was just the first show of the tour but last night's setlist was weak. Hoping they're warming up to their groove after the long delay and this isn't the new norm.
