Are we supposed to protect the war machine like Mark Schlereth protects the NFL shield or something? I legitimately don’t know what any of this “both sides making fun of our war machine” business was about but my interpretation is that it’s based on some Cold War era/USA rah rah thinking that everyone must respect us or the world will devolve into chaos. I think most nations are quite aware of what would happen if they directly confronted the US despite war machine PR not being what it once was.

Capitalism can when you attach a blank check or FEMA bucks, look at all the construction that got done immediately, in the winter, when the earthquake hit up here in Nov 2018. Yeah, we’re fixing it again 2-3 years later, but they got roads back open and massive amounts of work done in 24-36 hours
