I don't see how adding more restaurants/bars makes it worse off than when we had a dollar store and bars that allowed smoking inside. Why is having a large walkable area like 12th south a bad thing?
I’d rather have a dollar store and bars that cater to my preferred crowd (which includes smoking inside). It’s a bad thing to me. I don’t like it and it’s sad that 5 Points is just going to be another copy and paste 12th South. It’s fucking boring.
There are plenty of places to eat in the city. You don’t need another shitty bar taco to make another area of town seem less unique. not shocking Nashville knight doesn’t mind some sterile taco chain ruining the character of East Nashville
The Nations could use a shitty taco chain and less mediocre breweries serving pizza and/or hot chicken. Here for the gentrification hate and food talk.
Lol. I already said East is saturated with Mexican restaurants. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Bar Taco. Not shocking is how much you assume to know me.
Expecting 3-12 inches. Models vary on amounts. Anywhere from .5 inches in some parts to 12 in worst case scenario. Supposed to start around 5 tomorrow evening as rain and transition to snow around 5 am Sunday, I believe.
models be damned…. 3 significant accumulating snows in middle tn and it’s barely mid-January. Enjoy it because it may be the last time we see this much snow in a winter in our lifetimes.
How equipped is the city of Nashville to handle snowfall? How stupid would it be for me to drive from Athens Georgia up to Nashville today with a plan of coming back on Monday?
They do a decent job of clearing the major roadways, but the residential streets mostly get ignored. Nashville has some of the worst drivers when it comes to speeding and/or driving under the speed limit. I wouldn't want to be on the roads when it starts getting nasty b/c of the way people drive here.
Initial response: Simpsons did it! Then I read the article and see a James Beard award + BBQ. I expect tourists will love it. Maybe they'll build an ax-throwing bar on one of the floors and capitalize on that missed opportunity. A trailer park and stoner-themed dive bar would have made so much sense here w/ Church. Oh, wait, that sorta happened before.
My reaction was similar. This would probably be the spot I'd want to hit up, although I don't mind a recession special. But I really only hit up Broadway when someone comes to town and hasn't been before, and I think a lot of us are that way. Speaking of BBQ has anyone hit up Bringles Smoking Oasis in the nations? It looks like a lot of fun and I've heard some of the BBQ is legit. Also didn't realize there's a little dive bar next to 51st deli.
Haven't been yet but my co-worker has and he said it was great. It was opening weekend and they had some hiccups but liked the place.
It definitely sucks but the guy had some major issues. The wife/ex-wife is definitely milking this tragedy for money. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/n...aliens-according-to-wifes-order-of-protection
Lol, seems like someone should have tested it before going to production. I’m all for LPR’s in Nashville.
Yes to a new Titans Stadium with a retractable roof. This whole River North Oracle Campus and East Bank development with a new Titans Stadium will make East even better.
City tax dollars are already going toward the maintenance/upkeep of the stadium. Take some broadway/downtown hotel and alcohol tax money and put it towards a city/team partnership in a new stadium. The city previously said the new tax revenue of the East Bank plans was going to go towards a stadium renovation, so we can use that money as well. Under the current lease between the Titans and the Metro Nashville Sports Authority, the city must pay for maintenance and keep the stadium in a condition that matches similar venues across the country. That obligation puts the city on the hook for millions of dollars in improvements. The Titans are owed at least $25 million in stadium repairs that have already taken place. The Titans say they are committed to a new stadium lease that removes "Nashville’s general fund from (the) stadium business once and for all."
So where does the MLB ballpark go now? The initial design would fit now if Nissan is demolished but would make more sense to have both nearby. Legalize cannabis and let's build both along with that pedestrian bridge in Germantown. Maybe fix a few potholes while we're at it.
I think the only way it could work is if they build an MLB/NFL stadium combo, or at least future-proof the stadium. Or, big money buys out PSC land, but that seems highly unlikely. I can't imagine the remediation costs to use the land post PSC. If we can get medical weed here it would be a huge win. Let's start with that.
I'm trying to find the google maps link that shows all of the current and proposed permitting in Nashville. I'm pretty sure the layout of the MLB stadium that was placed near Nissan would fit perfectly in River North -- especially because that land is owned by one person. The proposed layout that was across from Broadway and where Nissan is currently cut into parking and would have required re-structuring of the pedestrian bridge. I'm not sure it is even possible without re-building the bridge. And didn't mean to deviate from the topic but all of these hemp/delta 8 shops popping up in lieu of these vape shops tells me it's coming. It's pretty significant that you can walk inside a hemp shop and watch them press hemp into a concentrated form, smoke that in the shop, and drink a beer at the same time. I don't think people realize all of the studies and lab programs with cannabis and hemp that happen at Vandy, either.
You definitely don't have to convince me that we need legal weed. Some of these Christian Republicans in TN act like it's the devil's lettuce. William Lamberth is a chode. It's embarrassing that other red states passed medical marijuana.
Paid around $60 for 3 Orville Peck tickets almost 3 years ago and now just paid almost $200 for 3. He done got gentrified
you guys will get weed when democrats one day pass federal legislation legalizing it. Not a minute before. GOP enjoys locking up black people for weed just too much to legalize it.
Everything has gone up. Our Lexus Lounge Morgan Wallen tickets are $525 each. I paid $550 each for Illenium VIP pit at Allegiant Stadium last July.
Please explain how other red states already passed marijuana laws then? I wouldn’t lump GOP together. TN GOP are definitely not as progressive as other states.
Our state government is certainly doing its best efforts currently to limit and further red tape the use of hemp in TN. These farmers are doing a lot of "natural" things to the hemp plant from seed to consumer to keep the THC below a certain limit because of government restrictions. We like to take two steps backward in this state. If the plant was meant to not have certain levels of THC you would think it would occur naturally. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/t...theyll-have-to-destroy-crops-due-to-new-rules
green is medical, which we know is extremely restrictive in southern states. blue is fully legal look at a state like Mississippi. The legislature didn't champion it, voters passed it via initiative. the governor "begrudgingly signed it" . The legislature only passed it after the partisan supreme court threw it out: "The House's passage comes 14 months after voters in Mississippi overwhelmingly approved a medical marijuana program at the ballot box, and nine months since the state supreme court overturned the referendum and nullified the state's ballot initiative process." https://mississippitoday.org/2022/0...signs-mississippi-medical-marijuana-into-law/ you know these southern states that are forced to deal with medical marijuana due to voter's passing referendums are narrowing that shit as much as possible. Look at all that blue in democrat's country congrats on living in a backwards as fuck part of the country though.
The Sutler closing doesn’t really resonate with me but it’s unfortunately the beginning of lots of bad news for some local establishments, I believe :( https://www.nashvillescene.com/food...cle_619149f6-9ca6-11ec-a6bd-33293bad27f7.html
