Dropped my boat off at a dealership for consignment sale yesterday. They appraised it at $20-25k and they are going to list it for $25k. Driving 1.5 hrs to Elberta,AL this weekend to check out a 2015 Sea Hunt BR 22 BX with 200 yamaha 4 stroke with 200 hours. Trying to get that for $50k. The boat market is just as bad as the used truck market. Everything is way overinflated. I was hoping to get a 2015-2016 24 foot Sea Hunt or Sportsman or a 23 foot Key West Bay Reef. But the market is so inflated I'd have to get a really old 24 foot boat. For example I saw a 2011 Sea Hunt 24 for $50,000. Seems like a lot of money to pay for a 11 year old boat. We have a baby coming in June and once the baby is here such purchases are going to be really hard to make/justify. If this Sea Hunt checks out I'm probably going to pull the trigger.

Ran into a beaver today. After the snow and winds, there were tons of trees down in the river and on the trail. Half of the usually good spots have a tree directly in the middle of them now. Had to crawl through down trees and had to wade to get around some.

I shocked a beaver once doing a stream survey. Scared the absolute shit out of both of us

Just applied for my Georgia and South Carolina scientific collection permits today. Looking forward to warmer weather and more enjoyable field days.

Anyone been bone fishing in Hawaii? I am trying to set up a trip out of Honolulu (going to be on the big island for 10 days. Taking a solo side trip for a day) but the three captains I’ve emailed haven’t responded. Not sure if that’s an island thing or what

    thanks. Would appreciate a lead

There aren’t any flats on the big island. Looks like people catch them regularly bait fishing and blind casting in the surf, but looking to do sight fishing on Oahu on flyZ

I emailed the shop you mentioned. If they don’t respond, I might see what diy I can do. Was hoping to just fly to Honolulu and get picked up. Guess I can Uber and wade? Wasn’t planning on bringing anything with me

he rents a kayak for a few of the days so he can get across some of the flats quickly and then work back down. He said Maunalua Bay Beach Park is 100% wade spot and you shouldn't need a kayak.

Went to a Trout Unlimited meeting last night with the head fisheries DNR guy for SC. It was pretty interesting as he presented all of the stream restorations they've been doing to restore brook trout habitats. Went through the steps they're doing to clear a stream of the undesirables and transplanting brook trout if needed.

There are flats on Oahu. Most people wade, but a few guys run flats boats and pole

I finally had someone email me back. Got locked in for 6/15 with this guy. Flying over from Kona at 6am

Extremely mild winter plus back to back windy days with highs in the 50s and the home lake is basically ice free. Don't see any cold snaps on the horizon.

I didn't catch many today. Don't like seeing the otter in the wild section vs the stocked sections. Would rather the wild fish be left alone, enough people keep in this section as it is.

I did try out the articulated game changer. Had 1 strike on it, but no hook up.

Were you upstream or downstream of the falls. Looks like downstream since it's bigger.

Any streams you all recommend in Western NC west of Asheville? I’ll be there a good bit and don’t know much about the fishing in the area, other than I’ve seen the WNC fly fishing trail’s map.

4-5 weight will be fine. 8.5-9 ft. When I go to the small brook trout streams I take a short 2 weight. Depending on where you are may need to go to 5x or 6x tippet.
