Any of you puzzle nerds ever done one of those custom photo-to-puzzles ? Thinking about doing this as part of a coworker's retirement, but can't tell if it's going to come out looking like shit or actually be cool.

We have a playroom for the grandkids, so I've been doing these 300-pc with them and mounting them on their wall. Got a 3rd one yet to do.

Had to buy one of these bad boys this morning after I realized my card table wasn’t going to cut it. Drywall was probably a better choice. 2D3EEFCA-F973-4548-83E3-3AC83ADD698B.jpeg

I have different pieces of particle board from Home Depot and just swap out based on puzzle size. I usually go with the 2x3 or 3x4.

Finished this one at lunch. It’s one from the magic puzzle company that was mentioned earlier in the thread. Pretty neat idea.

After you finish the main puzzle, there is an extra envelope with instructions and more pieces. In this case, I switched a few of the sections around and added the middle section (monster).

Glad you enjoyed it. They’re pretty cool, visually fun and also the interiors straight pieces add a little twist too. If you got the all yellow one though, I did not enjoy it. Too homogenous.

but I’ll be damned, I enjoyed it. Only ~330 pieces, but it still took a good bit of effort. I guess I gotta frame it or something? I can’t just throw it back in the box after all that

I try to stay away from puzzles with large swathes of homogeneous sections. The sea, sky, rock, and houses all seem like painful areas.

My current puzzle has distinct sections that should make it pretty easy/enjoyable.

That is pretty much how I started. I bought a few 100-200 piecers for my kids and we did them as a family at the beginning of the pandemic. Then my wife said she really liked it and we did a few 500 piecers together after the kids were asleep. She stopped (because it got harder) so I just do puzzles instead of watching tv, playing on my phone, etc.

Pretty close to us too. She likes to do them every now and then, but I’ve really enjoyed spending 30 minutes to an hour working a puzzle in the evenings rather than sitting in front of the TV/scrolling on my phone lately

This is a 1000 (large) piece which ended up 24x30. The pieces are different shapes/sizes which was a nice change. This is the first time I didn’t get all the outside flats first because I couldn’t find them all. There were a lot of flat-like pieces in the puzzle which made it more difficult. 8 out of 10 on the puzzle scale.

I have the world’s best dog. Never nibbled on a shoe or a sock. We leave food unattended on the coffee table and he just sits there staring at it hoping we share. He can even roll over on command (sometimes).

I’m taking him to the shelter tonight

This one did get annoying at times, but I do prefer the challenge so that I can take my time over a couple weeks. I need to improve on the workspace too because when I have the kitchen light on, my spot gets some really bad glare and makes it harder; you can see some of the glare even from the natural light just earlier

I do my puzzles on particle board for now but have thought about something like this so I’m not slumping over for an hour or two a day. The drawers are iffy for me because they aren’t big enough to be functional. That table looks pretty nice though.

I have seen other ones that have better drawers but does not have the collapsible stand. I think I like the stand better than better drawers though from a versatility standpoint.
