I know the CSTO, but beyond Belarus they are pretty much negligible id say. I really think China could back channel some stuff to Russia cuz they want this stuff to succeed, but they will damn sure not be caught doing it
Yeah and hopefully wouldn't repeat any of the past mistakes in trying to guide regime change to be beneficial to US interests.
I think what makes me more upset is that there might have been a pretty good chance you had that saved from when y’all beat my ducks recently.
2 reasons really they have long wanted to create things like a non-western alternative to things like swift and have been in the process of developing it, if Russia gets kicked off swift and stuff they are pretty much forced into the hands of the Chinese It would also set a precedent that China wouldnt mind using wrt some of their more disputed areas
You're (mostly) correct on both counts, but: 1. Creating a non-Western SWIFT requires developing a level of trust in the stability and intentions of the countries running it (theoretically China and Russia) and this is basically the exact opposite of doing that. 2. They were absolutely interested in using Russia as a guinea pig for Taiwan, but I think it's plain to see that Xi did not anticipate Putin's scheme to be this large. My guess is China sanctioned the bits with the declaration of independence for Donbas and Luhansk, then expected Putin to move in his "peacekeeping forces", get rid of meddlesome Ukrainian elements, then be happy with what he got. Instead, he decided to revert to czarist Russia mode and try to take the whole damn country. In both cases, China demonstrated that their resentment of the West/US and ambition overwhelmed their judgement and they pizza'd when they should have french fried. When the dust settles from this, their plans will probably have been pushed back a good 5-10 years.
gotta feel for the average Russian Joe blow in all this. hope they've had enough and rise up and cut the head off the snake.
just saw that, lol you support the truckers movement who decided to paralyze an entire city because they felt they were not free enough? this whole « movement » is a joke and embarassing for almost every canadian.
Fair points on both accounts. Think just on the SWIFT part it could become a wholly Chinese thing this way as the further Russia alienates itself from "the west" the more likely they are to go with whatever the Chinese would set up. Think it would be sold to Russia as a Co-Op mission but in the end everybody would know who would be pulling the strings (obviously a country pulling the strings in a SWIFT like endeavor makes it inherently less likely to succeed, but thats a wholly different discussion)
I think that was precisely the Chinese intent, but now Russia has botched the initial part of that for China. Every day that goes by with China holding their dicks and giving out these tepid platitudes about both sides coming together for a diplomatic solution while their ally they literally just called a "partnership without limits" is bombing their neighbor is hurting their chance to be the guys in charge. It looks even stupider because they've pearl-clutched about the importance of sovereign national borders being respected and yelled to the mountain top of how the US violates that, and how they WOULD NEVER do or allow such a thing under their watch, then previously mentioned partner does that exact thing.
I actually think China has a real chance to step in here, end this, and earn the world's gratitude. But they have to be willing to take this step.
Wonder how much it's dropped since the invasion started. Gotta be at last half its original value at this point
Apparently Greek media is taking this pretty seriously and may be in response to anti Russian propaganda being put out in Greece.
All these different war machines support each other in so many ways I feel like it’s “when you give a mouse a cookie”
guess it’s shouldn’t be that hard to get these over from Poland shit they might even be “ukranian” pilots saying “na dobre”
