According to this Wall Street Journal article, giving the Ukrainians western MiG-29s was always a lot more complicated than it seemed. A several-month project at a minimum to get the equipment and pilots combat ready. https://apple.news/A654CcG-TRfynjif7bVsduQ
Yay, let's sit back and watch them kill innocent ppl then pat ourselves on the back for predicting it
I mean again, at what point do we risk nuclear escalation. I personally do not want to starve to death, die of nuclear radiation poisoning, or die of dehydration but at some point I guess you have to draw a line in the sand
Then that isn't a negotiation Also, mother-in-law, withdrew 10k last Friday and went grocery shopping before our financial systems were attacked last week like they said on Fox. Being a Fox viewer tells you something. Spoiler should also tell you something that she paid cash for her groceries smdh
The Biden admin has actually done a masterful job using intelligence to get out in front of Putins moves. They said he’d try to use false flag attacks in Russian speaking areas of Ukraine to justify invasion. They took away that justification from Putin and won the optics to get almost every other country to denounce.
If they use chemical, biological or nuclear weapons to attempt a false flag attack against civilians, I'm good. At that point I'm down for whatever. Fuck Russia.
I feel like we’ll get through this crisis avoiding nuclear war and it will only reinforce people’s belief that it’s not really something they should be concerned about. And then they will roll their eyes and guffaw even harder during the next crisis. And this will happen over and over again until we’ve all lost respect for the threat and it becomes inevitable.
“Ukraine has plans to field a reserve unit of around 10,000 trained officers and more than 120,000 volunteers to repel the Russian invaders” seems like they are working on scaling up a massive mobilization in the West Ukraine is just trying to hold on until this reserve army can get functional it seems
Duck this. Hospitals and maternity wards? Shooting fleeing citizens trying to evacuate as the beg you to stop shooting them? Give them the jets right now and hook them up with mavericks and harpoons or whatever would configure with a Mig.
yes this is the reserves that needed a few weeks to get battle ready. I’ll have to find the tweets from early on in the war but I think they needed something like 15-20 days to mobilize when they drilled it a year or two ago.
If it wasn't for the having the same thing happen in Syria I'd think poor communications and hanlons razor. Assuming the Russian goal is to eventually win this war this would seem to be the precise actions to cause the Ukranian's to never surrender ever and get the west closer to closing the skies. Its not only fucking gross. its fucking stupid.
That's nothing. Fox news and Glenn Beck convinced my dad the economy was moments away from implosion and gold coins were the hedge. So, some random NY dipshit called him at the right time, used the gold is always a safe bet leverage point, and sold him $5k worth of rare coins for $40k.
Yeah the Jewish guy that has a father that fought the Nazis is holding up a Nazi jersey that has no reason to exist IRL.
Perfect. Just some good ol Nazis doing friend stuff together. Fucking Russian disinformation campaigns.
They are into that shit too, switched to silver and platinum(?) And annuities. That's it. That is there retirement money
I thought it was interesting that so many higher-ups in Putin’s regime were unaware of the invasion plan and shocked when it happened. Kind of makes sense how so many other governments besides the US were surprised by it and didn’t believe our intel.
good thread, but basic life common sense that shouldn’t have to be said. We don’t have to do something just to do something a lot of times.
Not really. The initial premise analogized two completely distinguishable situations, so his argument is doomed from the start.
Not sure what you are trying to say here, since an analogy between indistinguishable situations is impossible.
That doesn't make sense. Analogies only work when situations aren't distinguishable somehow. HIs argument is a complete non-sequitur.
No, analogies work for comparable situations, not incomparable situations. His argument amounts to, "The US didn't have to jump into WW2 against Germany and Italy because look at what happened in Vietnam."
