The lights out match on that show is probably the most divisive match in AEW history. Strong emotions on both the love/hate side. It is definitely memorable.
that Big E landing was rough. Seemed like a combo of him not getting lowered enough to help push off and Holland not getting enough hip snap to rotate him over. Basically doing a move that he's about 75lbs too heavy for. Feel like broken neck is basically a career ender in wrestling with few exceptions. Shit sucks. Hope he's able to recover and transition in to something else.
Awful watching that Big E accident. One of the nicest people on earth. I had him do a cameo for my nephews and he went above and beyond.
He was a NXT guy, broke his leg early in his debut. Recovered and eventually promoted to main roster for the last couple of years.
Just watched the spot. Obviously, I've never done it, so I can only go by 23 years of watching it pretty closely. It looked to me like Holland failed to get Big E enough air, and it looked like E failed to rotate his body. On an overhead belly to belly like that, you can do it in one of two ways. If the opponent is small enough (and can leap high enough) you can completely throw them so that they land on their back. If they're too big for that, then you simply have to be strong enough to give them a fighting chance. At that point, it's important for the one taking the move to sort of rotate mid-air, so that you come down on your shoulder and roll through it. Source: Watching Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit give and take that move a hundred times between 2000-2003, not only to each other, but to guys smaller than them, as well as bigger guys like Mark Henry, Big Show, Lesnar, etc.
If you're into the match ratings thing, AEW dominating so far this year. Revolution has 4 of the top 10 matches of the year.
Full Gear 2019: Britt Baker vs Bea Priestley (pre-show) - Yeah, that's more like it from Britt. Best women's match I've seen on AEW so far but it really didn't have much to beat. Seemed like some real heat between the girls too. Young Bucks vs Santana & Ortiz - First time the Bucks haven't had the best match of the night for me, but that might be more on their opponents. I really didn't like P&P, but maybe I wasn't supposed to? If so, job well done. Hangman vs PAC - Like I said earlier, match of the night. Page made me a believer here. Shawn Spears vs Joey Janela - SCU vs Luchas vs Private Party - Good match, but it almost felt like there was too much talent in the ring at times and it suffered as a result. But oh, what talent. Riho vs Emi Sakura - Ehn, the Japanese girls just aren't working for me - there so little... personality(?) in the ring. And I posted earlier that Riho is super talented but it's hard to buy her beating all these bigger girls - she is tiny. Jericho vs Cody - Struggled a bit with this one too. Modern Y2J needs someone to carry the load and I'm not sure Cody is the guy - there weren't many big moments that I can recall. And a lazy finish - the MJF heel turn was pretty predictable. Omega vs Moxley - I thought it was okay for what it was. Much better than most (all?) of WWE's hardcore matches. The fact it kept going probably made it better too - you wondered how they could keep getting worse and then they did. Another decent event, but suffered from some dud matches that I quickly lost interest in. Possibly a bit generous, but let's say 7/10 again.
someone just told me 2k22 is incredible. going to try to avoid buying it but I probably will tonight. and then never play it again.
I was just in the PS5 store and noticed it was available. Wanted to come into the thread and ask if anyone has played it.
I’ll be honest the guy telling me it’s great frequently has terrible opinions but it doesn’t take much to convince me to buy shit like this.
I'm seeing some good things about the game tbh, but it's in like the 70s review wise. Could be marks being marks. But the main thing is the gameplay kinda revamped and better. And they added some solid modes. Though the one everyone wants the most in GM was kind of lackluster. I wish anyone luck buying it. I don't really buy new games anymore unless I really want it, which is like 3 games in the last 2 years? Everything else I wait to get on a Steam sale for $10 lol
I went on the Coli because those guys are huge 2k players and it is mostly positive reviews so I'll give it a shot.
Reviews have been all very positive but I can’t tell if the game is very good or they’re all just saying it’s a massive improvement over 2k20. The one thing I can say is the presentation and graphics are very good. MyGM seems pretty well received although not a mode I would play. there’s also a new “ultimate team” mode which I also wouldn’t play.
Big E breaking his neck is awful, but thankfully he won’t require surgery by the sounds of it. It’s sad knowing his eventual return should be the biggest story in wrestling, and it’ll take two weeks post return until he’s feuding with Baron Corbin.
He’s dressed like an extra from the Little Rascals with a name that literally came from the Little Rascals.
