Did msu skip the sweet sixteen in 2019? nevermind I see it says consecutive, didn’t realize it said we have done it consecutively many times.
Maybe their AD should send the NCAA a strongly worded letter about not making the second weekend since 2005.
Tough weekend for the Hawkeyes in the tourney. The women (2 seed) just got upset by Creighton in round 2.
Update to note that today Duke has indeed achieved its 6th such appearance, joining Michigan and Gonzaga as the only schools with more than five.
Many intellectuals and well-respected influencers have been saying NCAA Woman’s Hockey > some silly spring basketball tournament.
It feels good that a Gopher ended the Badgers season and Brad Davison’s career. Spoiler Kalscheur’s mom is a Badgers fan
But what is out style of play? Iowa runs and guns and doesn’t play D. Illinois has shooters and. Very good big, MSU has good rebounding and a top notch coach. Rutgers plays in your face D and had experienced players. Why doesnt the conference have more success in the tourney?
Yea started thinking more on that and I’m pretty the big ten just fucking sucks. Fran fucking shits his pants every time he’s in the tourney so idk.
I was just thinking the same thing, what does every other conference have that we don’t? We have very good coaches, top talent, great fanbases. What don’t we have. The only thing I can come up with is Elite guards? But even than we still have solid Guards and elite players else where.
Its not a top end talent problem, theres like 6 big ten guys in the first 20 picks here https://nbadraft.theringer.com/
I've always thought it's because in the tournament you can't play the style of defense allowed in conference games. Michigan doesn't play that way on defense and it doesn't have to adjust. The best Izzo teams could explode on offense when the defense had to adjust. It's why Purdue and Wisconsin have to 1 Final Four between them in the last 20 years and Illinois has not made the Sweet Sixteen in 17 years.
Its coaching + luck. OSU, M, MSU, Wisconsin, Illinois have all not been able to get over the hump since 2000 despite multiple championship appearances. Just an awful run. the 2012 indiana team with oladipo / zeller, the 2017 msu team with miles bridges / JJJ, those teams w multiple 1st rounders not getting to the f4 is a failure. Izzo has been to plenty but you get what I mean indiana in particular is not pulling its weight
There are teams that play tough physical defense still in the tourney. Iowa St sucks so much on offense, and beat Wiscy who also sucks on offense but at least has Davis. Texas Tech and Arkansas are both physical defensive teams. The officiating has been atrocious in enforcing the freedom of movement this tourney. There are good guards on Big Ten teams too, so it’s not that. The only teams that don’t struggle in the tourney are Michigan and Mich St. Mich st just got smoked by Iowa by 30, but had a good chance at beating 2 seed Duke.
If CBB has taught me anything about hateable white basketball players, Brad Davison is going to be Wisconsin's head coach some day.
I’m not sure I understand any of this posting. We will not be thanking you. I want you to lose by 30 every single game.
