Drove through St. Louis with a buddy and we stopped to have dinner with one of his old professors. Went to a pizza place and I took a bite and said, “What the fuck? This is the worst cheese ever.” We went to a BBQ place first but they had just run out of food. My buddy got mad and asked why they couldn’t just make more. I was speechless. And that’s my experience with St. Louis.
There used to be a good Mexican place in Gillette, but I haven't been there much since COVID so I'm not sure if it's still around. Was the only redeeming thing about that place. Well, that and the view of the Bighorns
Pappy’s bbq is quite good but they run out fast. That’s the beginning of the story of how I went to Hamburger Mary’s with a coworker I barely knew without realizing what it is.
Was just awoken by my first ever nuclear war nightmare. Walked into a room of solemn looking people staring at their phones who looked up at me with empty stares. They let me know an incoming ICBM strike had been detected 10 minutes prior and they were saying their goodbyes. My POV switches to a version of that Princeton Plan A simulation. Saw a few headed my way get knocked out by Vandenberg’s defense system. Then a bunch of other shit came flying in from offshore. POV switch again to being on a SCARAB with Mitch Buchanan surveying the damage from the bay. Warships were on the horizon and boats were sinking all around me. He asked me to radio some shit. I woke up as I was fumbling with it Plan A video for reference:
#Atlanta Braves which one of you is the cracker that I follow on Twitter with Washington crossing the Delaware as your profile background?
I was going to buy a refrigerator for my garage. Apparently the news ones are only designed to work in a super narrow temperature range and will fuck up in a garage. Damn it.
I clicked on one vegan themed Instagram post and now half of my feed is “have you considered this plant based post/account?!”
I’m thinking about becoming a reblobsterterian. In order for me to eat at a place they either have to have cheddar bay biscuits, lobster or actually be a red lobster.
Yea, I got mine off there for like $40 and it's kept beer cold for like 10 years now ( not the same beer)
I just brought the one from our old house to use as my garage beer and meat fridge/freezer when we moved.
Idk but Ive always thought no animal product is vegan but as a vegetarian you can drink milk or eat eggs.
Vegetarian typically still includes dairy and eggs Vegan is strictly plant-based From my understanding
I almost had to go to a wedding this weekend that was serving strictly vegan food. My son decided to come early instead. Good job, kid.
I had a weird revelation last night while painting. The best art I do I’m kind of doing the artist thing where I’m self-sabotaging. It sounds stupid but the old brain works weird and I like to drink or get high as shit as I’m doing it. The ability to do it sober is there, but I kind of don’t like doing it that way…most of the time. Creative brain comes out when shit is a bit off. It’s awful and also amazing at the same time. I enjoy basically getting stupid by myself. So I’m trying to learn to manage that? (Like I said, this is all stupid and I realize that but the amount of stuff I’ve done is better. My life is in a good spot, so when I decide on a weekend to go into a weird spot…I choose it? I feel like a pyscho even saying this)
Long story short, I made bet we people from work I could go vegan for 2 weeks (except for alcohol). It wasn’t that bad actually. I dont know that I could have done it much longer. The worst part was going to a work dinner and basically only able to eat a cauliflower, which was great. However when everyone else was eating beautiful looking tomahawk ribeyes and strip steaks. That wasn’t fun.
Going to a vegan diet is probably the right thing to do ethically but I like eating meat and it would drastically change my social life, such as it is
Kind of depends on the reason why. If because you don’t want to kill animals, great. If it’s for ecological reasons, produce farms still are awful for the environment. damned if you do, damned if you don’t
It's more about the way the animals are treated I read a story a few days ago about how Smithfield needed to get rid of pigs that they couldn't process during peak covid. They did this by herding them into sealed barns and then pumping hot air and steam into the barns until all the pigs had basically cooked to death.
Reading the next few posts is actually another reason it’s amazing to eat a gummie and just … leave this world for a few hours into a painting. humans are fucking the worst (Smithfield, I eat meat and what not…but big corporations make me want to poke my eyeballs out)
My old neighbor was a vegetarian but would eat McDonald's chicken nuggets Wasn't ever clear to me how she drew the line there
Cattle produce a ton of greenhouse gasses but have largely taken over bison as a huge herbivore on the bison’s historical grazing range. Large scale farming is unlike anything that has ever happened to the landscape. I mean it leaches most of the nutrients out of the soil such that we need to pump millions or billions (idk) gallons of commercial nutrients back in just to make things grow. And commercial farming created the dust bowl, it kills tons of animals during harvest, among other times, and it also creates a ton of greenhouse gasses through fuel and fertilizer use. And depletes water reserves even in places in droughts. It’s really a lot closer than you’d think.
The internet tells me it takes 1-3 gallons of water to grow one goddamn almond and a ton of them are grown in CA
There was an oral history about it published a few years ago Basically they did no actual repairs on the cars and a lot of the customizations were just cheap props that went away after they were done filming
I work with a Vegan ortho trauma doc who pushes his Veganity onto his patients. A couple years back we had a 20 yr old kid come in who ended up losing both legs below the knee due to a horrific woodchipper accident and the doc told him he needed to go Vegan. Kid just lost both legs, his fiancee (left him because she didn't want to deal with it), and this clown is telling him to go Vegan...smh
