We happy you’re able to move to a better environment. As Odin’s neighbor we look forward to seeing you in the Critical Role thread.
I was at the grocery store check out the other day and there were long lines @ two of the registers but not the other one and couldn't figure out why for a second. Turns out the cashier was trans feminine and people were being stupid pricks. I caught a few glares when I looked around and shook my head and went for her to check me out. Sad that everyone is always in such a massive hurry except when it collides with being ignorant toolbags. I'm kind of socially awkward but made an effort to be friendly. I definitely see more trans people than I used to which is good but sadly it will likely take time for people to get used to it. Doesn't make it right but it's probably true. Long story short..Sorry people suck, glimmer. The world is a shit sandwich with out that on top of it. I'm not the worlds most evolved person but treating people with basic respect seems like a no brainer. Sadly that isn't the case quite often.
We suck pretty hard. I know the trans bill is coming here soon. We’ve been copying a lot of Texas policy.
Yeah I 2nd this statement glimmer at least you stay in the best time zone though. Hope the move works out for you.
I hope you know that I support everything you do because I think you’re incredibly brave and respect you. BUT!
https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...mply-abbott-order-criminalize-care-trans-kids "Republican leadership of this state is trying to turn loving and supportive parents into criminals, and this office will play no part in it," said the Travis County Attorney of a new plan to treat gender-affirming care for trans kids as child abuse.
Someone tag those posters that get mad when you call republicans awful pieces of shit and have them explain this.
I dunno, maybe where I am is mostly close enough to Austin that we get that acceptance vibe, but I can't imagine this happening in my local stores. And we do have some colorful damn characters, some of whom I have no idea if they are even male of female, lol
I grabbed a couple things during the day and it was older white people. (+60 y.o) Most people here aren't that openly uncomfortable.
signed a lease in one of chicago’s queer neighborhoods. moving at the beginning of may. i’m so glad to be getting out of alabama. everyone getting mad about lia thomas makes me feel less safe in public. it’s serving as reminder i need to be somewhere i’m truly welcome
Said by a bunch of people who don't give a single shit about women's sports other than when they can castigate and endanger trans women. Lia Thomas is a goddamned hero.
The Episcopal Church welcomes you. https://www.episcopalnewsservice.or...-in-person-gathering-since-covid-19-pandemic/ Episcopal News Service:House of Bishops condemns war in Ukraine, anti-transgender legislation at first in-person gathering since COVID-19 pandemic The House of Bishops also discussed the spate of state laws and political directives targeting transgender youth. Dozens of bills have been introduced in state legislatures over the past two years limiting transgender minors’ access to medical treatment and restricting their participation in sports. In some cases, the parents of transgender children have been threatened with legal action, as is now the case in Texas due to a directive from Gov. Greg Abbott classifying certain kinds of medical care, such as hormonal or surgical treatments, as child abuse. “People can think ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ can be trite and simplistic until you have to do it,” he said. “And that same principle that applies for transgender children applies for the people of Ukraine. They’re God’s children, and nobody, no human being is meant to be abused. Put down. Oppressed.” Several bishops testified in support of a statement condemning these laws and directives, sharing personal stories about their own transgender/nonbinary relatives or parishioners and the fears that they face, even in states where they seem unlikely to pass. The resolution originally mentioned Texas “and other states,” but a number of bishops asked that their states also be mentioned by name. After some debate about how specific the statement should be, it was amended to include “Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Missouri, Florida, Arkansas, Ohio, North Dakota , Mississippi, South Dakota, Nebraska, Indiana, South Carolina and any other states, municipalities, and school districts targeting transgender children and their families.” “In light of the baptismal covenant’s promise to see Christ in all persons,” the statement read, “… we … voice our love and continued support for all persons who identify as transgender or non-binary and their families. We decry legislative initiatives and governmental actions targeting trans children and their families. We urge all in our church to create safe spaces and shield all people from harassment based on gender identity.” Curry and others said it was important for both lawmakers and the transgender people whose lives their decisions affect to know where the bishops stand. “Whether you’re liberal or conservative, there’s such a thing as human kindness and human decency. And for those of us who are Christians, there’s such a thing as unselfish, sacrificial love that seeks the good and wellbeing of others,” Curry told ENS. “We don’t expect that it’s going to change votes, but we pray [it does]. Maybe the most important thing is if it brings some comfort, some affirmation to transgender folks, that you are children of God, created in God’s image and likeness, as are we all.” Spoiler: Full Article
I’m glad you’re going somewhere where you feel safe. No one deserves to feel unsafe for just existing. I’ll be in Chicago twice this summer. Beers and bama basketball shit talk on me.
small language note, it’s trans women. trans and cis function as an adjective to the word women. “transwomen” is often used by transphobes as a way to other us and draw a distinction.
i could only make it through the trailer in 30 second increments. i’m still crying and have ruined my makeup. that is so beautiful and poignant and powerful. i need to watch it asap.
it really hit me right in the feels when the mom mentioned seeing the joy in her daughter when she got to wear a dress. i know that feeling of elation and gender euphoria and it’s so touching to see a mother accept her daughter and recognize the importance of that inner joy. i’m still struggling with how in the world my own parents can’t be happy for me in that same way
Haven't seen it, but that trailer choked me up good. Will watch this with my wife and a box of tissue. Thanks for sharing.
Just landed my first transgendered client. My secretary who is a 65 year old woman was confused and made some snide comments but realized that wasn’t going to fly and actually started asking questions bout pronouns and everything. I enjoy seeing older people overcome the fear and try and learn something about it all.
it’s the international trans day of visibility and i figured i’d share my FB post here. be yourself. live your life to its fullest and without fear

Anyone who thinks republicans deserve oxygen is also an awful piece of shit at this stage in the game. You wanna attack kids because they're different from your stupid fucking bullshit religious beliefs that we don't give a fuck about? Fine, you deserve to get stomped the fuck out every time you leave your fucking home.
