Hit a couple good slot wins and walked away up from each place/time I played today. Bankroll is +40% for the trip, which is pretty tremendous considering I was planning at being down by about half at the end of tonight. Oompa Loompas ftw
Question for anyone that might know. I’m heading out may 15th -19th. Originally it was supposed to be a solo trip for me to just get drunk by the pool and eat some expensive food. I mentioned to a friend of mine and when I got to the legal weed(because I know my audience and he loves weed) in Vegas he was like I’ll go if we can golf and hit up a dispensary. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good place to go. He wants to pick up some edibles and a vape pen. For golf we are looking at maybe Bali hai, the revere and maybe one of the night par three courses.
When you do this do you truly just slip a 20 in between your card/ID and they know what to do? Or do you just straight up ask? I had no idea this was a thing until a couple of years ago, but haven’t tried it.
Yeah I just had it folded and put between my ID and CC. They know what’s up, but I feel like if you ask it goes a little better because you have opened up the conversation and can help steer it a little more toward what you want. I think they can sniff out timid people who don’t ask and will probably set you up on maybe a higher floor or something, but not burn any of their upgrade capital to get you into something significantly better. After walking up and exchanging greetings I say something like ‘I wanted to get checked in and see if you have any upgrades available.’ They kind of take it apart and set out your cc and ID and then put the cash off to the side and are like great let me see what I can do. Click click, type type, check with the manager, ok I have xyz for you, done.
Any dispensary will have what you are looking for. Go to Leafly or Weedmaps and find the one closest. It also appears that they do delivery out there to specific locations. No idea how that works tho
Money in between the cards and say what you want. $20 at the Bellagio and ask about fountain views. $50 at Aria and mention you are looking to spread out a little bit. That usually got me one of those 1br corner rooms. It works, but you have to be confident and know how to ask.
I think they deliver to the main valet or Uber pick up spot and you meet them there. It should have a note on their sites about it.
Carrot top was good, not great. Had some really funny bits, others were old, played out, or obvious boomer pandering for the audiences there. Front row seat, so I could see all the props very well, especially the veins on the dildos. There are lots of dildos. The dude hasn’t aged super gracefully, and is pretty skinny. Not jacked like he was.
Going to Vegas the first weekend in June for work, and have not been since the weekend I turned 21. That was the weekend of the "Bush Push" game, so it's been a minute. Staying at the Park MGM. Need some restaurant recs, as there are just so many to choose from. Open to all cuisines. Just want the thoughts from the distinguished Vegas regulars of the board.
Won a quick $400 on the claw machine by my elevator at mgm and hoofing my ass to Cosmo for wicked spoon breakfast
Man, Caesar’s with the bullshit slot selection. Not a fun movie, tv, or musician in sight at any casino. It’s all god damn buffalo. That will probably influence my next hotel decision.
Nice. Yeah that’s what I was wondering if you actually say what you’re looking for to some extent. I’d be one of those timid people they just give a better view and pocket the 20 lol or they’d just pocket it. Maybe I’ll give it a try next month at Park MGM.
Also has anyone ever used those MyVEGAS apps? I swear everyone on YouTube acts like they for a week of free rooms by using the app/playing the slots but that seems nuts.
I think it used to be good but now the rewards suck. I got a free brunch at Mandalay Bay and a free buffet somewhere else back in 2019. But that took awhile to build up to.
Can’t remember if I asked before or if mentioned. Figured I’d splurge and take a limo or similar to/from the airport. I’d probably spend 40-60 bucks on an Uber anyway plus the wait, so why not go right to the limo? Anyone have any recs to book a trip with? Should I call the hotel to set it up? Staying at golden nugget 2 nights then Mandalay Bay next 3
Weekend of the McGregor/Khabib fight I was staying at Aria. Gave the receptionist $100 and tried to upgrade. He tried his darnedest but considering we were connected to the fight venue all he could do was give me a top floor. He was heartbroken and tried to give my money back but. Long story short don’t expect much form a few bucks on a marquee weekend. re:dispensaries Most of them have deals with cabbies and will give the driver $10-20 cash for taking a tourist to their spot.
MyVEGAS and the other apps suck for rooms. You might be able to snag a food credit or bogo buffet for a reasonable amount of plying, but even that takes some hours.
Beat the shit out of my old iPhone playing Konami on auto spin. Got a free night at the mgm for it, but killed my phones battery permanently.
I haven’t had it for years but I downloaded it yesterday and I see you can now turn auto spin on so I was thinking of just plugging my phone in and letting it spin while I’m at work until I run out or chips and need to wait for it to reload lol Although not sure BOGO beers is worth a fried battery. How do you redeem the stuff? Do they email you something?
It's been a while, but IIRC when you redeem, you get a little coupon (either in-app or email) that you take to the rewards desk. Then they give you a coupon for whatever you earned.
I am intrigued by the idea of going on a vacation solo. I feel like my wife would veto spending anything on vacation w/o taking kids or not going with friends.
It’s within the app. You select the gift you want. Then they’ll email you a secret link and show you the hotel comped at check out.
All virtually the same. There are like 3 companies that make all of them. Basically copy and paste book to book with different branding. (In Vegas, other jurisdictions have much more Variety)
I’m single. So I either have to wait to get invited or just plan on my own. The former doesn’t match my schedule well the latter leads to solo trips sometimes.
I"ve been solo well over 10 times. it's nice doing whatever you want without asking if they want to do the same
I hate Caesar’s. Got smoked playing blackjack when I came in. The penthouse in nobu is really nice though.
neither have I. We’re waiting for our friend to get in so we have stuck around. The $25 minimum tables are a killer.
Catch restaurant. But this would be much easier if you had dishes/items in mind. Vegas will serve you up an amazing plate of anything but we need to know what you desire.
Lol what thin skinned bitches other message boards have. In response to someone asking if they can have someone else’s account made gold at MGM to get an extra $100 dinner credit. for reference, that tier takes at least a few thousand in losses/spending to attain. good thing I deleted FOH from the end to be nice, I guess.
Great location if you want to do some hiking or other non-strip related things. Also there and aliante seem to be consistently clean, nice properties. Aliante was sold off, but built in the same style originally. Can’t say I feel the same about their third triplet, green valley ranch. In any other city I’d be down for that place every time.
At Park MGM there is Eataly (has several venues in it). Primrose is a good spot for breakfast and lunch. At Aria, connected to PMGM by an interior walkway, pretty much every restaurant is highly recommendable. If you are in town on a Saturday or Sunday do the brunch at Bardot. Julian Serrano for tapas. Javier’s for Mexican (check out the rear wall sculpture of the history of Mexico). Blossom is excellent Chinese. Lemongrass for Thai. Carbone for Italian. Jean Georges for steak. I’m looking forward to their Taiwanese restaurant, Din Tai Fung. I’m hearing good things about it. Salt & Ivy has a patio that’s great for breakfast and lunch dining this time of year. On the other side of Aria is Cosmo. They have an excellent food & beverage program and is worthwhile trying out.
Javier's at Aria is a great, "I just got here off a plane and need a cocktail and some food without any fuss" type of place.
Yes. Javier Sosa(?) is the owner and his son manages the Aria location. I really like Javier. His son…he’s ok I guess.
I knew this was a strong possibility. One of my sons is a F1 nut. Just another reason to visit LV! Edit- LV will have 2 major NASCAR races and a Formula One race. That makes it America’s race car capital imo.
I will pay a lot of American dollars for a Cosmo terrace facing the fountains or LVB on this weekend, but I feel like the balconies that have the track views won’t even be made available to cash customers without an existing and substantial play history.
