I think you guys scared me enough because the crowds haven’t been as bad as I expected. I did want to kill someone at MK right before fireworks but I feel like that was as much about me not realizing what was happening.
it all depends on what you’re doing, times, etc. but that’s good. They’ve had record crowds for this time of the year and less staff than normal so it’s good that it’s worked out for you
We had a good day. This hotel room being 5 mins from the SkyLiner is clutch. Did most everything at Epcot but the TestTrack. Kid didn’t want to do it. Had an appointment at the DroidDepot this evening and it’ll be hard for that to be topped. The travel agent accidentally booked 2 builds and I caved and let him build both the B and R units (chose a chopper head instead of an R2-D2 head for the R unit, wtf am I raising?) even though they told me 20 times it was cool to switch to only 1 build. Went back to Epcot to do the Frozen ride and watch the Harmonious show. It was pretty impressive. The Frozen ride lightening lane was still a 20 min wait as we went through @ 8:30 and the standby lane was at 150 minutes. Insane.
What the cheapest way to procure booze in the park? We brought a handle but I don’t foresee it lasting the whole trip.
in the park? there is no cheap way if you need a good amount, maybe uber eats/postmates it to your hotel room
Can I make an early breakfast reservation at Grand Floridian for the parking, pay the $10 now show fee, and walk/monorail to MK instead of doing the TTC in the morning? I know there is a "3 hour parking rule" but not sure if that's enforced or not. Typically for GF dining reservations you just show them your phone at the gate and they let you in. We've never been handed a pass and the lot where you are allowed to park at is also for overnight guests so I don't believe meter maids are tagging cars. I've only done early evening dining reservations though so not sure if breakfast would be different. Any of you used this workaround?
yes but it will depend on the security guard that day, some are super assholes and dont care if you have a reservation and will tell you to go to TTC and monorail over
when we went last month idk if the guard was serious or not but he said they aren't ticketing anyones cars and not to worry about not having a pass to show I was an overnight guest at the resort. So seems like they've become really laxed about the resort parking.
I tried parking at beach club in early february and was told my dining reservation didn't mean I got to park there, went over to boardwalk and there was a line of about 8 cars and that guy let me in that's why I said it will depend on your security guard
I always used to say I was going to beaches and cream and it worked every time without proving anything. That was pre-covid though. Edit: probably got this hack from afb in the first place
may be tricky but see if you can find out what conferences are at beach/yacht club and then say you are there for the conference. They asked to see my drivers license but they didn't even record it or even take it. They just glanced at it as if it make sure I had a drivers license(?) it was kind of strange but that was the process.
right I guess what I mean is they didn't check my license against any sort of list. They just glanced at it.
only thing that I haven't seen fail is I have a friend who bought a used Lyft light up thing for the dash, he puts that in the dash says he's picking up and then just parks
100% this. but the toughest hotel to get into by far is beach club because SOOOOO many people try to sneak into the pool.
Doing epcot next Sunday before going on a cruise. Not super excited about taking a toddler on a cruise but I am about to lose a bunch of credit from covid cancelation a few years back. I'm expecting epcot to be a shit show but hopefully my frozen obsessed toddler will enjoy it.
Just an FYI, we booked the lightning lane for Frozen right at 7AM and didnt get a spot till 8 PM (It was pretty neat though). I think the standby line was over 2 hours the whole day. The show on the water at 9 PM was really cool as well.
We’re back home now. Day 2 we did AK in the morning. The dinosaur ride was cool. Did the water rapid thing and the Lion King show while we waiting for our time to do the Avatar rides. They were great. The VR Banshee one blew us out of the water. Kid wouldn’t stop talking about it. Went to hotel and napped then went to MK that night. Did Pirates/Small World/Buzz Lightyear/Haunted mansion. The travel agent booked us a table at the Lady and the Tramp restaurant and it was awful. The only bad food I can remember from the whole trip. The fireworks were awesome. My kid spotted the zip line earlier so he made sure to tell the little kids around him Tinkerbell wasn’t actually flying but zip lining (he’s an asshole). Day 3 was all HS and it was amazing (it’s too small though, they need to add an Avengers expansion for more rides/shows/restaurants). Did toy story mania, the spinning alien thing, Indiana Jones, Olaf, the muppet show and Millennium Falcon in the morning. Got some drinks at the Cantina, I didn’t realize they didn’t do food except chips or charcuterie, but the makers mark cocktail was outstanding. The bartender said it was his favorite when I ordered it so for round 2 I asked his second favorite, he brought the Jedi mind trick but it wasn’t nearly as good so the Mrs took it and I ordered a second Makers. Really wish they would add a small bathroom in there though. We were supposed to do Rise after that but it was shut down so they gave us a LL voucher that worked any time after that. Did the midday hotel nap and went back that night. Did the runaway railroad which was really cool and Rise which was incredible. So many “ahh, no way” moments. The cast members getting to be complete assholes was cool as well, I felt happy for them. I just wish it was set so Vader was the villain and not Kylo but they’ve got to sell all that merch. Slept in and checked out yesterday. Flight wasn’t till 5 so we played at the kids pool at the Caribbean resort and went to the Springs to eat and get souvenirs. Don’t think there’s much at all I’d change. The SkyLiner was great. So much more convenient and quicker than the busses. Wish I brought a muzzle for my kid because every time we shared a SkyLiner he thought it was open mic night. The first day we shared with a family from Ohio, mom, dad, and 2 college aged kids and the daughter was just eating him up and that’s all the enabling it took. Kid is a born entertainer but he can be obnoxious as hell so I always felt bad. The travel agent printed off a “LL and ride strategy guide” for each day. We screwed up day 1 and didn’t get to Epcot till the very end of early entry so we waited about an hour for Ratatouille instead of the 20 mins she predicted but outside of that I don’t think we waited more than 30 mins for any ride/show. I think next trip I’d add an extra day in the middle and just relax and pool/waterpark. 4 parks in 3 days had the little man drained, the mid-day naps each day were a must for us. Kept the attitudes up and lowered the sun/heat exposure (I don’t think I’d ever go in the summer). Loved the location of the Riviera, it was a legit 5 mins from room to SkyLiner. The Beach Club/Boardwalk looks cool and we might try that next time. We missed out on lightsaber building, the flying ride at Epcot, the safari tour, and splash mountain but crossed off most everything on the list. Rise/Avatar/Droid Depot win the trip. The castle fireworks and Harmonious were obvious must sees. Overall great trip. Next Disney experience next year will be at DisneyLand to do the Avengers Park.
ate at the boathouse on wednesday and it was very good. if the weather is good ask to sit outside and watch the sunset.
it's embarrassing how bad food at MK is they can't build marvel on the east coast bc of Universal's theme park rights now disneyland has top tier food pretty much everywhere (except tomorrowland) they delayed the e-ticket avengers ride so it'll pretty much just be Guardians (tower of terror) and the Spidey ride which seems just ok
Damn. That stinks but they were building a GotG coaster at Epcot but Marvel rights are so damn wonky. Maybe we’ll delay DisneyLand trip a couple years.
maybe it’s expectations but you guys downplayed Ohana and I just loved my meal. wings, noodles, tenderloin, grilled chicken were all good. could have used a dipping sauce for the dumplings. waiting to try this bread pudding.
ya it's super weird wdw can only do characters that universal didn't have the rights to/werent already in islands of adventure disneyland is worth it on its own though, dont be deterred bc of the no avengers e-ticket
Thanks. So if I get there when they open and go right to frozen id wait two hours? Should probably look into the lightning lane.
Whats the “e-ticket”? Disneyland has 2 parks and one has Galaxy’s Edge and one Avengers Campus right? Is Galaxy’s edge the exact same as at DisneyWorld?
the avengers e-ticket was supposed to be like a crazier version of Flight of Passage tech yes yes, there is one extra entrance area but inside it's all the same
Im no expert, just done it once. But if you can’t do the 30 minute early entry that’s what I’d expect. We got there at 8:20 instead of 8:00 and when I used the app to check wait times it was at 90 minutes I think. I’m pretty sure the Frozen ride was a Genie+ LL and not one you purchase individually (Rise of the Resistance and the Avatar ride you could buy outside of Genie+). But get the app and get the Genie+ and be ready to click at 7AM. And if you try at 7AM and it says sold out keep trying. I tried to get Rise at 7 and it told me sold out. I got pissed and hit the shower thinking of the 2+ hour long line we’d have. Checked the app after the shower (7:15ish) and it said it had openings at Noon. Tried to buy them, it crashed, signed back in and “sold out”. We scrambled getting out the door because I wanted to get in the park right at 8 and checked the App again in the SkyLiner (7:45ish) and it had times available at 2 PM. And that’s when we were able to finally buy the LL.
We really should of ran off and made out. My bday is tomorrow, kids is Sunday. I did see a guy in an old school Henry Jersey at AK and blew him a kiss hoping it was you.
Ahh. So when we were leaving FoP my kid was flipping out that it was the best thing he’s done his whole life. I told him “wouldn’t it be cool if they made one of those for the Avengers? You could fly around as Iron Man or Thor and fight Thanos.” I would nerdgasm wayyy too hard at that. Is it true that rides like Rise and FoP are different each time you do them? The travel agent told us they were and if we saw a short line to do them multiple times (they had no short lines).
Honestly not sure. But for FoP it would just be a different video playing in front of you, similar to star tours. I’ve personally never noticed a different video for FoP
Yeah that makes sense for those 2. Not sure how Rise could be different but the travel agent went on and on about riding it as many times as possible to see all the different scenarios. The kids mind was blown 10 second in when he saw “it’s for real life BB-8, that’s actually him not a fake!”
FoP is the same every time. Rise has two different upstairs when you split in the AT-AT room but they aren't much different. Rise does have a B-mode though, where if the Kylo animatronic is down it switches over to a video of him outside the ship.
So I'm taking my two year old who doesn't need a ticket.. But does she need a lightening pass as well?
The AT-AT room was incredible. Kid (and myself) flipped. The 60 or 70th year old dude in front of us completely melted down. “HOLY CRAP!!!” Then pulled his phone out snapping as many pics as possible.
