After kickstarter takes their cut. Which will be significant, since this is the most funded project ever
I mean they charge the same fee for any sum money so it’s not like he’s getting extra taken out. He will get 90%+ of the money, which is insane. Not sure I’m a fan of the move.
I would start with Mistborn Elantris is his first novel and it’s good but it’s not indicative of how good his work becomes / is as a whole. Mistborn is is great and more accessible than Stormlight.
Yea, I wouldn't touch Stormlight Archives until I feel like I understand the Cosmere, generally. I also have like 60 pages left in Rhythm of War. Really want to finish but I have to do stupid work.
Truman if you want to play just the tip you can read The Emperor’s Soul which is a novella and a quick read. My favorite sci-fi / fantasy novella ever.
I started with elantris because it was a smaller commitment and I wanted to see if I liked his writing. Loved elantris and have started mistborn.
So… I’m just now getting around to reading Rhythm of War even though I preordered it. Don’t judge me. Anyways, does anybody else find Lirin as grating as I do? It takes a lot for me to hate a character. Usually, I just find them boring/annoying, but I actively loathe Lirin. When he told Kaladin that he should have been a better slave I was speechless.
Just finished RoW. The Sanderson Avalanche felt kind of tame this book… idk. Also felt like 30% of this book could have been cut and nothing would be missed. Still overall enjoyable but the weakest Stormlight novel to date imo
I love that he didn’t mention the shitshow that is the Wheel of Time show among quality non grrm fantasy.
I’m a dumbass and missed the kick starter. Any of you guys be able to send me the auidobooks if possible when they drop?
Im 100% fine with a high quality anime for Stormlight or Mistborn. Especially Mistborn, I think the magic system would be really difficult to pull off in live action without looking cheesy.
Sanderson is doing a livestream right now, and just said that he expects he'll be "on set, doing things" for the Mistborn adaptation this time next year. edit - here's a clip I found of it just before this he mentioned it was Mistborn that was being shopped around.
here's the full Q&A, he talks about Mistborn around 25 minutes in. Also touches on a theoretical Stormlight adaptation at an hour 20 in.
Just finished the first mistborn trilogy. Probably going to do a quick first law before getting into the emperor's soul and warbreaker.
Had a typo there in that first law was a reread. But I did get a little bored by the 2nd book and have made my way back to sandersonville
Finally read Elantris, was better than I expected the way some of you talk about it. Picked up Arcanum Unbounded to be caught up on all Cosmere except White Sand.
So, I've finished mistborn era 1, warbreaker, elantris and emperor's soul. My library has arcanum unbounded now, but it'll be a couple of weeks until mistborn era 2 is ready to check out. Can I just read the whole thing, or should I hold off on the stories that flow after mistborn era 2 from the chart on reddit?
