Complicated legacy for the guy. Had some iconic performances, but I don’t ever recall reading anyone say he was great to work with. Still, no one deserves to go through this (well some people do but probably not Bruce)
That fucking sucks. Him basically playing himself or a version of John McClain was usually enjoyable.
Rumors started popping up lately that he was unwell, and that’s the reason he’s been churning out these truly horrible movies lately so he could bank some money for his family before he couldn’t anymore. Too bad that that was probably the case. If you haven’t though, you should check out his most recent movies on IMDb. Its quite the collection
Anybody have detailed experience with this disease? Guessing it is permanent and related to a stroke or something?
rumors of his memory problems/etc going back to at least 2015 shitty movies let the directors shoot around him not really being able to interact in scenes and just regurgitate lines fed to him in his ear piece without too much mainstream scrutiny supposedly
Spoiler Worked on one of his movies last year (called “Wrong Place”). The entire feature was scheduled for one week of shooting, and they usually take months. Apparently, they are all set up like this. He only does 3 days of filming during that week for each film. He flies in on day one, says what’s up, and then plays golf until his 3 days of filming are ready. He knocks out his scenes in 3 eight hour days, and then he heads home, until the next one. I was there for day one on this one, and did a hill fall (basically just rolling down a hill out of control). I saw him briefly, and he took off after checking in. The crew absolutely flew through the shots. The focus isn’t on perfection, but rather getting it done as quickly as possible. They do a decent amount of shots with his double standing in for him from a panned out view. They use very few locations, to speed up the process, and keep the budget low. Honestly, it was pretty refreshing to work on. The pace was hectic, but there are days on other shows, where we film for 16 hours, and only get a portion of a scene done (action scenes typically take longer to film).
Guy was in: Pulp Fiction Die Hard franchise 6th Sense 12 monkeys I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of solid ones Sucks - had an elite tier career imo
I'd rather send a bunch of blue collar oil drilling types to solve our space problems than Elon fucking Musk.
Fifth Element The Jackal Voicework in Beavis and Butthead's do America what more can you want out of an actor
I work at a golf club near a major movie studio. He plays here from time to time and is beloved by all the staff that interacts with him.
I read this as Bruce Willis has Alopecia and thought it was one of the GOAT trolls from Rumer since he's been bald for decades. Now I am instead sad
Willis put out awful movies to pay for his retirement. Cage put out awful movies to pay for already having burned through his life earnings.
Blind date- 80s movie (I think 80s): Bruce with Kim bassinger, Phil Hartman and Jon laroquette is an underrated comedy. It’s dumb as hell but it’s funny. apahsia can be associated with stroke, brain injury, alcohol use/abuse
it is a symptom not a disease. it is permanent. my wife works with aphasia patients pretty regularly. typically after a stroke but can have other causes
I've got a source who is somewhat connected in Hollywood and is claiming he actually has FTD and the Aphasia us just a symptom of this. If this is true, then Bruce probably isn't long for this world. FTD is a terrifying form of dementia. A friend from HS had their mom just die from it. It isn't something I'd wish upon anyone, except maybe Putin.
I don't think my MIL had this but some advanced for of alzheimer's with lewy-body features (I believe this was her official diagnosis). In about 4 years she went from being in good health, although lightweight for her above average height, to unfortunately passing just last week. Her being unable to eat well on her own the latter part of this really accelerated her decline. She had for much of her older life, before the dementia, problems swallowing large pills and that got so bad so quick after she moved in with us in 2020. Was such a hard toll on my wife and me (while raising a now almost 5 year old), but fuck it sucks to see someone quickly deteriorate like that and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone other than probably every elected GOP politician right now.
