Good thing you're doing, ya know, furnishing those underprivileged children with some tshirts and shit. Bert's always got his head in it for the children.
We will be young af. Bringing in 5 kids in this class. Plus Nimari Burnett who didn’t get to play this year with an injury. We basically don’t have a PG rn on the roster other than 5* Jaden Bradley but relying on freshman PGs is dangerous af. With JQ is going pro and JD Davison is probably going to go pro as well. Gonna need to hit the transfer market hard and land a few guards who can handle the ball. Brandon Miller will run the point forward for us next year as well kinda like Herb did. 2 McDonald’s all Americans coming in. One juco kid. But the portal will be absolutely crucial for us this upcoming year. It will make or break the team imo.
Congrats on the pre-season title, Slaw https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...ly-top-25-college-basketball-rankings-2022-23 Cliffs: UK #7, Tennessee #14, Bama #15, Auburn #16 This is a poorly researched article, though. For example he says that Quinerly, Ellis, and Davison are coming back for Bama (2/3 are locks not to return, I would be shocked if Davison does).
Gates has 'reached out' to around 30 players in the portal. He hasnt hired a single assistant yet. The thought of him cold calling all these kids is makes me laugh. IM sure he has some support staff, but still lol
I wouldnt have minded hanging onto him. He's a good defender, and a decent catch and shoot guy. Cuonzo asked him to do too much because we had zero PGs last year.
Au’Diese Toney declared for the draft and signed with an agent. I could tell this was prob going to happen with how his mom was talking after the elite 8 game, seemed ready to move to professional ball. Could see us making a run at Norchad Omier and of course Broome
Remember how mad the Auburn fanbase was when I made that statement? Audrew was foaming at the mouth that I would dare opine that Alabama basketball is in better shape than Auburn basketball. One of the most laughable things about it is they just kept calling me "stupid." They couldn't even get more creative than that. Then they acted like they were on a 70s UCLA run after having a few months of regular season success. Then they shat the bed in both tournaments and now have a shitty recruiting class. Whereas we have the #3 recruiting class. Auburn posters in here have shit the bed about as hard as their team in the NCAA Tournament.
How can you be confident that you can be a lottery pick but not confident that you can take Uros Plavsic’s minutes?
Sounds like Georgetown and maybe Auburn are in it for Huntley-Hatfield. He is talented as hell but he doesn’t have much of a motor. Apparently, HH wanted assurances he was going to get to play more on the outside.
Supposedly Reeves is looking for an NIL deal from Florida after Castleton got euro league money to come back.
UT has 3 spots left. I think we are in good position with Yuri Collins, as he has a previous relationship with our assistant coach Rod Clark.
I don’t know what has gone on with him since he got hurt at Auburn, but he was afraid to shoot to at UT. Which is the reason he was out there.
Well, I think Brandon Huntley-Hatfield will be on his 6th school in 6 years. Powell couldn't play defense and wouldn't shoot when he was open. He was given the green light to shoot threes and wouldn't do it. I would've like BHH to have stayed, but BHH asked Barnes to play him on the perimeter next year as 3. There was a reason Cal stop recruiting BHH, and a reason why Barnes took a relatively local 5 star guy even if the fit wasn't right. Hatfield seems like a good kid with all the talent you'd want, with poor advisors.
South Carolina, LSU, and Mizzou are going to be really bad. Florida probably in that same boat, don’t think giraffe neck is enough to lead UF back to the dance. Like what UGA has done and surprised Oquendo stuck it out, but that’s a big hole to dig out of and probably need another year or two to get to the top 2/3 of the conference. Tennessee needs help in the portal badly on the wing/perimeter. Lacking size on the perimeter and Chandler did so much from a playmaking and clutch standpoint. Kentucky doesn’t really change much from a potential standpoint from last year. Still very small from your usual Kentucky standards we’ve seen and lack shooters. Still think they’ll get exposed defensively with Wheeler and Oscar. Arkansas is insanely long and athletic, but sounds like Jaylin may not return and we’ll have that adjustment period again where it takes our transfers some time to start clicking. Also need probably one more wing. Regardless, probably going to be one of the most entertaining teams to watch in a while. We should be very very good defensively. I worry about 3 point shooting again. Bama bringing in a lot of weapons like slaw, we’ll see if they can run an offense and manage the egos a little better this year. Not a ton of holes on paper, but want to see a better coaching job from Oats. Who can fill Shack’s shoes and hit those big shots and get streaky? Auburn can’t replace Jabari’s shot making ability and clutch gene, or Kessler’s rim protection. They’ll need Westry to be ready to go on the wing. Traore still raw and Broome making a big jump up in competition level. Still have KD so you’re in for a roller coaster night to night. Ole Miss returning a lot and I like their additions. Can the team buy in or they going to give up on their coach again? Still probably peak at that 7-10 range in the league. Miss State going to suck. Lost a ton and haven’t replaced them yet with SEC talent. Still 5 slots open but don’t see them mentioned either high major transfers. I think NIL is a big issue for them. Vandy I like Wright a lot, but losing a ball dominant guard that draws a billion fouls per game is going to be tough. Nice recruiting class for them, but a ton of question marks still. Not sure if they can’t get to the middle tier yet or not. aTm is intriguing. Awful recruiting class and you lose a great guard in Jackson that did so much for them. Buzz’s teams usually play really well toward the end of the season, but get off to very confusing starts.
Hopefully Wade Taylor and Manny develop well over the summer and we still magically have Boots Losing Diarra was an unexpected blow tho
